Are You Nervous?

August 8th, 2008 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

I’m pretty sure I get asked this question everyday, sometimes multiple times a day (sometimes by the same people, on the same day :/ ). I also get asked this more and more as the wedding gets closer. I think I should get this big button and sport it daily. ;)

LOL, my parents actually got buttons for their wedding. One said “YES! I am getting excited!” and “NO! I’m not getting nervous!” and then their wedding date. They still have them, and it’s a cute memory item to have around. :)

People are always asking me “ARE YOU GETTING EXCITED!!??”

I just look at them, deadpan, with a really bland face, and say, “Yes.”

I am so tired of that question. I know it’s wrong, but am I supposed to be jumping up and down like a f*cking pomeranian?

That was me 6 months ago, and yeah, I’m still excited… but now I’m drooling all over myself with exhaustion too.

I wish I had one that says, “The only thing that I’m stressed out about, is the fact that you won’t stop asking me if I am.”

I was completely fine and happy the morning of the wedding until I sat down at breakfast with my mom, my bridesmaids and my MIL and everyone started asking if I was nervous. That question should be outlawed on one’s wedding day and if there are any bridesmaids or mothers reading this, please remember that!

If you make this button, I’m so buying one! I’m sick of people asking this. I’m not nervous, I’m just ready for it to be over and get to the good part, the marriage!

I usually ask the “are you excited” question when I don’t have time or don’t care for to hear the bride launch into a litany of planning details, yet do want to be polite and inquire about how she’s doing.

Ha ha, judging from the comments above I’m thinking someone should open and etsy shop with all these thoughts on badges!

I hated being asked that question. It is such a negative thing to ask!

When I was asked that I didn’t even acknowledge the nervous part of the question I would just answer “I am so excited”.

I was trying NOT to be nervous and being asked that question so often made me NUTS!

I vow to NEVER ask that question to a bride-to-bee
