The Big Day: Gingerbreads, Reunited (The First Look)

The last time you saw me, I was heading out the door to meet Miss GB 2.0 at the hotel. So now here I am heading down the hall in the hotel. You with me?
And here is Miss GB 2.0 answering the door:
The tears of joy made the whole keeping-Miss-GB2.0-from-seeing-me-in-the-dress-before-the-wedding thing worth it!
I’m not usually a crier, but look, Aki caught me too!
Then we went inside with the camera crew so that we could collect ourselves…
Okay, we’re back!
We headed downstairs to take some photos in the lobby. Some people smiled at us, but some people were really rude, loudly whispering about whether Miss GB 2.0 was a man or a woman. Um, we’re two people in love and we are about to get legally married, so what does it matter? Sheesh. We smiled anyway.
Then we headed out to our awaiting vintage car, Walter.
Next stop: Stanley Park for an impromptu photo shoot with Walter.

The photos are beautiful. I can’t believe anybody would be so hateful as to make sour comments like that in front of somebody on their wedding day. They were probably just jealous of how fantastic you both looked.

Also, you’ve given me hope for some before-ceremony shots in a hotel (we’ll be getting pictures done beforehand in December in Buffalo, so while most will be outside, I’m sure some will have to be indoors).

I’m so sorry that people feel compelled to be mean just for the sake of being mean- I think they just must be unhappy with themselves and to feel better they have to try to make others feel bad.

Your post got me to thinking and I’ve decided that I will pack a can of silly string in my garter belon my wedding day and bomb people who make me mad. I also decided that on the two block walk from the Quaker Meeting House to the restaurant, I will carry a sign that says honk if you like gay marriage. You know, prepare for negativity and positivity!

I really appreciated all the random “congratulations!” that strangers threw out on our wedding day, seeing us all dressed up. I can’t imagine how I would have felt if the random comments had been hurtful. So sorry you had to deal with that!

You both look so beautiful and happy! In this supportive community, it is hard to remember that narrow minded fools who would insult you on your WEDDING DAY exist. They suck, you two rock!! Congratulations!!!!
So we JUST met with our photographers tonight (a husband and wife team) after I had a lovely row with my mom (stress-induced…loooooooong story), and while meeting with him help put my mind at ease, these pictures have helped put my heart at ease, and I thank you.
As for the “whispers”: People love giving their Unsolicited Opinon. If I yawn while this uppity older woman walks by while I’m waiting for the shuttle in the morning, she remarks: “someone’s been staying up too late!” When at church, and I’m wearing a top (covered in part with a cardigan and wearing pants, therefore making my body 95% covered) that happens to show some cleavage, I was reprimanded by a fellow parishoner remarks that my “boobs are hanging out” (and have yet to go back to that church since). I can only imagine the heightened attention these old biddys are giving you (and in my opinion, anyone that judgemental gets cast in my mind as an old biddy!), but I LOVE that you threw the proverbial middle finger in their face and carried yourselves with pride. Rock on!!! You look awesome, and I can’t wait to see the next round of pictures!
