The Last Supper

Before we knew it, the rehearsal was over and it was on to the rehearsal dinner! Nothing like food, family, and friends to get a party going! We arrived at the restaurant… and everyone burst into a round of applause! We were certainly the center of attention, and it was sorta overwhelming! smiley403 A preview of what our grand entrance come wedding reception time might feel like, I suppose!

We thought it would be fun to treat everyone to a teppan style meal, as Mr. D and I are big fans of Japanese cuisine!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with teppanyaki, it refers to food cooked on a Japanese grill, usually right in front of the guests. The cooking process itself is usually quite the show, with the chefs juggling their utensils and the classic onion-and-oil volcano trick that never gets old. smiley306 We chose Yamato Restaurant, which was only a few miles away from the church.

To be honest, we were a little worried at first about doing a teppanyaki style dinner, since it might get a little crazy with so many chefs performing—We needed about eight different tables to accommodate everyone. But Yamato Restaurant did a great job of coordinating all the chefs, taking all the orders, and timing everything perfectly. And they even made us customized menus free of charge, which saved me some extra ever-so-precious time! smiley403

Some highlights from our last supper…

A super smiley and happy Mr. D and I (and a glimpse of those menus!)

The classic onion ring volcano trick!

A toast by one of our best men…

And just being surrounded by our closest family and friends!

What a blast! But the party wasn’t over. After dinner, the entire crew made its way over to… Pinkberry! Such a treat, especially since most of our crew was from out of town and had only heard of Pinkberry before. It was nice to just have extra time to chill (no pun intended) with everyone before the big day!

Yep, we pretty much took over the place!

And before I knew it… it was time to head back to our hotel. Mr. D gave me one last hug and kiss, and said with a tender, excited, perhaps slightly mischievous grin: “See you tomorrow.” smiley105

I just watched the Office episode “Benihana Christmas” and it’s made me so crave teppanyaki! Your dinner sounded delish!
