This Tuesday, I had my second dress fitting at La Belle Elaine’s in downtown Seattle. Due to a hectic work day and stupid scheduling on my part, I was forced to ride my bike to the fitting in 90 degree heat. The trip was only 2.2 miles, which is nothing, but it was still a stupid idea. The salespeople looked at me like I was insane (I don’t think they’ve ever seen a bike commuter bride before) and I had to spend a good 5 minutes toweling off before I felt safe putting on my dress. EUGH.
It was still wicked hot in the fitting room, which at least gave me an idea of what it would be like wearing my dress in some serious heat. The outcome? Very sticky, sweaty inner thighs. YUCK.
Good thing I (probably) won’t have to worry about heat like that on my wedding day!
OK, enough jibba jabba. Let’s get on to the pics, which means NO PEEKING PAST THIS POINT, MR. CHERRY PIE!

Don’t mind me, I had some fun with Photoshop filters on some of these, for no good reason other than that it amused me.
When I got into the dress, they’d taken in the sides to fit the chest and bust. Somehow, they managed to take it in too much or my ribcage grew a whole lot between last month and this month. I’m pretty sure it’s the former. I had and unsightly roll over the top, and I really don’t have a lot of extra flesh on my shoulder blades so it was also quite uncomfortable.
I don’t have any pictures me in the dress with the back zipped all the way up because I was pretty unhappy and didn’t think to use the camera. I flat-out said, “well, we’re going to have to fix this,” and sent the seamstress into problem-solving mode.
When I came in, I’d resolved to leave the back of the dress alone and forgo the v-back. (You can see some photos & video of the original back in my last fitting post.) Now, it was looking like the way to go. I had the seamstress pin the back into the v again and it took all the pressure off of my shoulder blades without loosening the bust of the dress noticeably:

I love it! I think it really lengthens my back and adds a nice bit of sexiness to the gown. It’s a little bit wider than the v we originally looked at, but it will still follow the line of the straps, which are being taken in to accommodate the v (and hold up my bewbs). The end result is quite comfortable.
Oh, and the buttons, when done up will hide the zipper and cinch the chest/abdomen/bust of the dress another quarter to half and inch.
Here is the front of the dress for comparison:

I don’t even have to wear a bra! But for that added oomph, I’m having cups sewn into the dress and I’ll try out my Natural Bra at my final fitting after it arrives in the mail.
Here’s the obligatory YouTube video of me prancing and strutting around so you can see how the dress moves. I’m sort of stepping on the front a little bit because I’m barefoot (I left the boots at home). In this video, you can see the small train of the dress and how it flows (in my last post, the train was bustled):
You can sort of see my necklace in the video & photos above. Here are a few close ups of how it looks with the dress. I think the multicolored Akoya pearls match very nicely!

The matching earrings I custom ordered arrived a few days ago and they look amazing…
Oh! And my veil arrived, too! Surprise!

Just kidding, that’s not what it’s supposed to look like…

Are any of you making dramatic alterations to your dress?
What do you think? Does the overall package go together?
