Personal Escorts

August 12th, 2008 @ 5:16 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

This is the DIY project that taught me the hard lesson of ‘letting go’. You know, the one that makes you realize perfection was never in the cards? Let me introduce to you - our escort teabags. The front of teabag has each guest’s name, and the front side of tag has our monogram.

To make it a little more personal, we came up with a unique nickname for each of our guests and wrote it on the back of the teabag in quotes. The back of the tag has the name of their tea named tables.

Sorting, checking and assembling:

To distinguish these tags from the faux-teabag tags from the wish bowl (I fully realize no one will notice), the corners were quarter punched with a single-hole punch.

There are all kinds of inconsistencies in the end products but hey, they’ll work. So my handwriting isn’t great, nothing seems to be in alignment, the tags vary in size, and I even somehow managed randomized capitalization! At the end of the wedding, no one will remember their imperfections. And at the end of my craft day, though I had to settle for less than my vision, it was fun turning my idea into reality. As a bonus, our office now smells like yummy tea. What more could a DIY bride ask for? :)

what a clever way of working your theme :) what kind of ink did you use to write on the tea bags? are they intended for consumption?

I can’t believe you came up with a nickname for each guest….phew! I’ve definitely come up with a few nicknames for some of my guests…in particular the ones that RSVP’d their children or left the little card black…I digress…nice job, GT!

@MsPopcorn: i tried a whole bunch of different markers (i found out the hard way that teabags are hard to write on and quite sensitive to ink!), a random one i had laying around worked best while the sharpies smeared everywhere. they are not intended for consumption, and i’m counting on the guests to figure that out on their own (keeping my fingers crossed ;) )

I have a feeling people are going to have a good giggle at your nicknames and that matters a lot more than random capitalisation!

@Dadiva Shop: ‘EF Felt Tip Pen’ is what’s written on the pen body :)
