Wedding Shower Recap: Part 1!

August 12th, 2008 @ 3:33 pm by Mrs. Candy Corn

My fantabulous maid of honor, Melanie, put together one heck of a wedding shower for Mr. Candy Corn and I this past weekend!  Along with the help of my mom and Mr. Candy Corn’s mom (who hosted the shower at her house), they brought about thirty of our closest friends and family together and spoiled us with a mountain of presents!  I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

This was a really rough week for us…Mr. Candy Corn had to sell his wrecked car to a junkyard for less than $200, and my job informed me that I’d be unemployed by the end of the week (along with everyone else in the company) after just hiring me back less than two weeks ago.  Needless to say, this was just the kind of happy distraction we needed to lift our spirits.

Before I get to the presents part, I’d like to introduce you to some of the party people (the camera-shy folks aren’t included):

First up we have Melanie, my maid of honor and wedding shower planner extraordinaire!

Next up is Ben, Mr. Candy Corn’s half brother and total camera ham!

Papa Candy Corn, who gets very enthusiastic about deviled eggs (as do I)!

Mama Candy Corn, who I definitely inherited my smile from.

A grinning brother Candy Corn who played videographer for the day.

Brother Candy Corn & sister-in-law Candy Corn being way too cute (if his co-workers happen to be reading, tell him I say “holla atcha boy!” (or just a simple hello will suffice)

Erin & Dan (who are having their shower this upcoming weekend) are camera-shy snarkybutts.

Natalie, a recent mama and lifelong friend with tons of sass (and a wee sliver of Mr. Candy Corn’s mom next to her on the left).

And last but not least, Mr. Candy Corn, who could not have been happier spending a whole day stuffing his face and opening gifts!!

Next up: Gnomes, owls and adorable towels, oh my!

Not to mention bows. Lots and lots of bows.

All photos by the lovely Laura Kicey who took all of these photos for us, which was totally unexpected and unbelievably appreciated.

Does anyone else in the hive have an upcoming bridal shower?

I cannot believe how poorly the people you work/worked for run their business (seemingly from the little you have told) how can they fire/rehire and fire you all in the space of 4 weeks!!!

Shower looks great!!!

Your family pictures have always cracked me up! These are some of the best.

I also love love that you do everything with your man. Everyone thinks I’m crazy for wanting a shower and bachelor/ette party with my boy, but why would I not want my best friend with me?

And poo for car wrecks and being unemployed! My internship ended up not hiring me like they promised, so I am in the starving artist boat as well… stupid economy. I will be sending some good karma thoughts to the CCs!!

You need to set that adorable picture of you from her Flickr, the one with the bow on the head titled “why I lufs her so” as your WB picture. That is too awesome.

Oy vey with this job situation!! Maybe collect some of the rabbits’ poo and spread that around on the desks….from my experience, rabbits have an abundance of excess poo

I’m glad you have the wedding to distract you from all the phooey lately. And I’m glad you have such pretty pictures to share!
