Shoes are my vice, music is my passion in life and technology is the medium by which I live and work. About Mrs. Pomegranate

I thought I’d share with you a little bit more about how Mr. Pom and I came to be—as it ties in to the meaning behind what we’ve chosen to give to our guests as favors. Both Mr. Pomegranate and I are huge music fans with very eclectic tastes. With Christmas approaching a mere week and a half from the date we met, we decided to exchange very simple, inexpensive, but meaningful gifts.

Our challenge was to pick our Top 50 most favorite songs of all time and make an autobiographical play list on Rhapsody - which we swapped on Christmas Day. This was an extremely hard project—a 50 song limit made for slim pickings for me and I was rather skeptical about the message I wanted to send him, especially in regards to song lyrics, as we had just met each other! However, to this day, this remains one of my all-time favorite gifts ever received from ANYONE. EVER.

I have Rhapsody To Go service and I love it.

With music being such a huge part of who were are, and in turn, a huge part of what our relationship is all about, we felt that this was crucial to convey to our wedding guests. Sure a DJ could play all night—but we wanted something that lasted for more than a single day, just as our Christmas gifts had for each other. CDs became the obvious favor choice for our guests, so I began to look for inspiration as to how I would accomplish this.

Mr. Pom suggested we use Jewelboxing for the actual CD packages. They are awesome because they look professionally packaged and the inserts can be easily printed on your home printer. I will be able to design the inserts to fit our needs, including a booklet that explains the story behind our gift and the meaning behind each song for each of us.

However, I stumbled upon one other piece of awesome inspiration from KSirish’s Knottie Bio. She used her CDs as seating cards. They were organized alphabetically in decorated CD boxes with a custom concert ticket attached to the outside where guests could find their table location. This was a perfect solution for us, and a easy way to combine budgets for two projects!

I love these CD boxes KSirish decorated to organize the CDs.

KSirish used a Martha Stewart CD package which contained these Thank You Sleeves—so cute!

We will not be doing the cute, custom, concert tickets, but rather will be creating vellum removable stickers with a Xryon to place on the spine of our Jewelboxing CD cases. Then each guest will find their name between these awesome CD Dividers we found, and in turn, their table location as well. When it’s time to shelve the CD after it’s been taken home, the seating card sticker will be easily removed and thrown away!

Aren’t these custom concert tickets cute!? KSirish used them as her seating cards.

I cannot WAIT to show you all the finished product - this has been one of my favorite DIY projects so far. Stay tuned for another DIY post coming soon!

How are you incorporating the soundtrack of your lives into your wedding?

Are you going to be using the playlists you made each other for the wedding?

Miss Pomegranate says:

@Miss Avocado: Why yes we will, Miss Avo! However, as 100 songs will not fit on a single CD, we will be picking and choosing our favorites! This is of course, even MORE difficult than the original narrowing down to 50 task!

I love this idea, esp the making it into your seating cards.

This idea is fabulous! Can I please rewind 2 months and use it at my reception? :) Narrowing the list down sounds daunting but the CDs will be awesome when you are done. Good luck!

Custom mix CDs early in our relationship were my favorite presents from Mr. ST! Alas, our music collections have been fully merged, so no more little CDs for me. Love this idea!

No way! My mister asked me to make a soundtrack for our second date and we played that baby ova and ova again…when we were living apart, every single week (I kid you not…every. single. week), he would make me a CD and put it in a jewel case with a custom cover and mail it to me snail mail. It made my Wednesdays so exciting (since we lived in different cities, we mostly saw each other only on the weekends). Anyway, CD’s were an obvious choice for us too. Ours will be favors, not escort cards or anything, but I’m so excited about them and the song selections. What are you doing for the CD design? We used lightscribe, and I looooove how they turned out!

I love this idea and can’t wait to see how it turns out! Those concert ticket escort cards are so awesome too! Mr E and I almost used album covers to name our tables… and we still might

@SKM: We’ll most likely use the labels that come with the Jewelboxing kit. However, my laptop has a lightscribe thing in it and I was going to try that out first!

Great idea! There are now blank CDs that come with a PRINTABLE surface. Those so inclined can design their own CD label and print it directly on to the CD. It does take a special printer like the Epson rx580 inkjet but man do the CDs look professional!
