Unexpected Choices

August 13th, 2008 @ 2:07 pm by Mrs. Champagne

So you’ve now witnessed my love affair with damask, you can imagine our table settings and theme will be incorporating all of these wonderful patterns and rich colors. When we first started planning our wedding, I had NO IDEA what I was getting into. There are tons of different fabrics, shades of gold, and textures that I never thought I’d care about. Now suddenly I find myself saying “Oh no, that gold has got to be much deeper and that sheer is just all wrong”… what?!?! Who am I, and what just came out of my mouth?! It’s as if all of a sudden I became a fabric expert. Well, folks the truth is I know nothing about fabric. But I do seem to have a general idea about what would fit us best.

Our tablecloth linens will be this ivory chopin damask print from bbj linens. It’s an understated damask print, so it’s not going to completely take over the tables. The color we’ll order is going to be a bit deeper than this ivory, but you get the gist.

I won’t bore you with pictures of the actual chair covers, but they’ll be the same deep ivory as the tablecloth.

Enter obsessive bride: So on the right are the traditional chair ties in a sheer bronze. Originally, I had no question- after all, that’s really the only option right? Then I research a bit and find options. I could do an actual chair tassel ties, like the little ditty on the left- pretty, but not us.

They could be tied in a fasten like this chair, or in a pretty bow. It’s a very clean look, and it could work, but it’s almost too modern for our venue.

There are also chair ties that are part of the chair cover- very elegant, but they’re about double the price. No go for our budget.

If our venue had pretty chairs, we could do something simple with tulle, like this unique idea on the right. Or, we could get a little funky and tie a lamour bow over the chair. Perfect for a garden wedding! Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure the chairs at our venue are outdated and covered in plaid. Not exactly elegant romance.

And then there are the other options… interesting choices, I must say and I’m sure that they are beautiful in the right element. I’m thinking they’re a bit too much, and our guests would

1. try to take off the chair cover and wear the tutu on the left, or
2. untie the bows on the right

The other thing is, I really like the traditional chair tie, but I’ve seen pictures where the material is tied lower on the chair. Of course I can’t find any to use for inspiration, but it looks beautiful in my head. With all of these choices, we still decided to go with the deep ivory damask table cloth, ivory table covers, and a deep gold lamour chair cover… oh, and of course, gold chargers- but more on that headache later!

Who knew there were so many options? Anyone else think endlessly about silly little decisions like chair ties?

Miss Champagne were the prices affordable for the table linens? I just checked out the website and they didn’t list anything. I’m thinking about contacting them but there’s no point if they are super expensive.

@Adrienne: I would first look at cloth connection. We may actually end up getting ours there as well because the prices are better. I just used the bbj sample because cloth connection you really need to get swatches to evaluate. Let me know if you have any luck!

I had no idea. I went to my tasting and was bombarded with questions about how I wanted napkins folded. Shear or satin chair ties, how should they be tied. how do I want the table set.
I had a headache
