Hey Baby, Wanna Dance?

Hey Baby, Wanna Dance? : wedding dance vail Card

I’m not sure if you can read this card, but I’ll spare your eye strain. It basically says that Champ is taking me for a weekend to see Rascal Flatts!!! For years I’ve wanted to see them, and my time has come!

Now I’ve explained that my hometown is a small mountain town, but I should also say it’s very close to some pretty rural areas. Translation? I like country music. It may not be the “coolest” music, but I swear country music is so honest and there’s nothing like driving the back roads singing along.

But there’s another reason why this concert is so special. Champ and I have decided to dance to Rascal Flatt’s “Bless the Broken Road” as our first song. The lyrics just tell our story, and the song is incredibly special for us. At the risk of sounding terribly cheesy, I guess you could say it’s “our song”.

Rascal Flatts - Bless The Broken Road

Love it. Sooo, I was a complete basketcase when he gave me the tickets and even more emotional when they played Broken Road at the concert!

Hey Baby, Wanna Dance? : wedding dance vail Excited

We showed up to the concert an hour before the doors even opened.. I think I was just a little excited. :)

I think in my next life I’ll be a cowgirl; the hats are fun!

Hey Baby, Wanna Dance? : wedding dance vail Stage

Champ was able to get us wonderful seats so close to the stage! Taylor Swift opened for Rascal Flatts, and throughout the night I heard some of my all time favorite songs.

Hey Baby, Wanna Dance? : wedding dance vail ZoneHey Baby, Wanna Dance? : wedding dance vail Rockout

I wish I could remember all of the songs they played. Here are a few of my intense moments Champ caught with his camera. Apparently I was really into the music.

Thanks Champ! I love you so much and can’t wait to dance with you in February- get yer cowboy hat ready!

Hey Baby, Wanna Dance? : wedding dance vail Outside

What will be your first song, and how did you choose it?

We danced to “Flowers” by Cross Canadian Ragweed. CCR is a red dirt country band out of Oklahoma that we absolutely love. “Flowers” is a very sweet song that explains us and was short (a requirement of my attention-shy husband). It’s definitely not your typical first dance song but we loved it and that was all that matters.

I love Rascal Flatts!

Ours was “Only Hope” by Switchfoot. Mr. Peng and I listened to the soundtrack to “A Walk To Remember” on our first mini vacation together (A drive up the coast from LA to Carmel) and I just love the song.

Haven’t decided yet, but “The Book of Love” by Magnetic Fields is a very strong contender.

I love the Flatts!!! Our first song is “My Wish” by them!! (It’s also a really good father/daughter song if anyone is looking for one, but this has been “our” song since the beginning so that’s what we’ll be dancing to.) We went to their concert last summer and it was by FAR the best concert we have ever been to … and we’re going again in one month (yaay!) to see them and Taylor Swift. We were a little nervous that our expectations would be too high — but your review just got me excited all over again!!

We danced to “Plan on Forever” from the Wedding Planner soundtrack. My reason was simple - I had such a hard time finding a song with lyrics that really sounded like ‘us.’ It seemed like every song I listened to was some variation on ‘I was nothing until I found you. I am nothing without you’ etc.

It was nice because it was also an unexpected song.

We danced to a country song too! Once in a lifetime by Keith Urban. My hubby required that we have our first dance to it even though it is a up beat fast tempo song. It was perfect.

Yay! We’re having a country song for our first dance, too! We’re dancing to “Want to” by Sugarland. It’s about two friends not sure about being more than friends. “I don’t want to if you don’t want to…but I want to!” It’s totally “our song”, as cheesy as that sounds. And now I’m crying! Wedding is 9 days away. I cry like 10 times a day! :)

Awesome! Our song is actually Bless This Broken Road too!! Country music is the best, there’s nothing like growing up in a small country town where you’re not afraid to leave the door unlocked. We’re actually going to see Rascal Flatts in Sept. when they come to Philly, it looks like it’s gonna be an amazing show!

Glad there’s another country bee! We danced to “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait and “Forever and Ever Amen” by Randy Travis. Don’t ask; we ended up having two first dances.

I love Rascal Flatts and have seen them 3 times in the past 2 years! I’m glad other people in the hive have great taste in music :) “Bless the Broken Road” is a beautiful song and from what you’ve told us about your relationship, fits you perfectly! My fiance and I are going to dance to Brad Paisley’s “She’s Everything”

Bless the Broken Road is one of our songs, and our violinist/groomsman will be playing it as I walk up the aisle. Yes, the radio version does hold a cheese factor, but the words are perfect, we love it, and it being on a violin ought to nix the cheese factor; and if it doesnt, thats just too darn bad.

We’re having a hard time coming up with a first dance song, romantic music just hasn’t really been a part of our relationship. We’re thinking Wedding Day by the Beegees because we like that era of music and it’ll make his dad cry which will be really adorable. Still thinking though.

I’m not a country fan, but it’s funny to me when I hear people get excited about going to a Rascal Flats concert. A few years back they played in front of Sears at the mall I worked at (and it’s not a big mall). I had no idea who they were (and still don’t know much about them), but within a year or so they were back playing much bigger venues in the area.

It’s like a Tiffany success story!!…and with that I’ve just aged myself!
