Wedding Shower Recap: Part 2!

August 15th, 2008 @ 12:42 pm by Mrs. Candy Corn

I now present to you a true story of what took place at our wedding shower (I enjoy making animated GIFs a little too much):

Although my parents spoiled us with awesome gifts such as place settings, a TV stand and a SpotBot (which is basically a robot that cleans up dog pee for people who have dogs who refuse to go outside like normal canines), they also gave us some out-of-the-ordinary gifts…

which is always expected with my side of the family.

Proof:

Are you seeing my face there? Here, let me enhance that for you:

That, my friends, is a gnomegasm if I ever saw one (”gnomegasm” is the term I’ve stolen from our photographer Laura, who took the picture). I had to zoom in on that for you (Mrs. Lovebug-style) so you could truly appreciate it. Don’t say I never gave you anything!

I really wish I had more control over the faces I make. For instance:

Honestly.

I couldn’t believe how sweet our guests were since most of them had wrapped our gifts in our wedding colors (notice how that room matched our wedding colors too!).

Every time Mr. Candy Corn opened a gift I went into full Grinch-mode and started applauding and cackling to myself. VERA WANG OH MAH GOODNESS!

I couldn’t contain my excitement whenever we received gifts from Anthropologie, because I am in love with all things Anthro!

Mr. Candy Corn was totally getting into it and didn’t seem to mind that I kept placing ribbons and bows on his head throughout the opening of presents!

Laura caught us in a rare moment where we were both adjusting ourselves in one way or another (I didn’t mean for that to sound dirty but I’m pretty sure it did).

cc2.jpg

Mr. Candy Corn had to demonstrate how a collapsible colander works (Martha, you are a godsend), which made me squeal and cackle, of course.

I’m not sure what I’m pointing at here, but I totally look like I’m pulling a Veruca Salt! I was so excited to see the mountain of blue and brown presents. I had no idea people cared about our wedding colors as much as I do!

Speaking of our wedding colors, did I mention I absolutely adore Martha’s fabulous blue-colored kitchen goodies? Mr. Candy Corn looks like he has to sneeze in this one, or like he is having a Marthagasm… probably the latter.

My MOH Melanie’s mom even made us a quilt and embroidered an owl on it because she knows about my unhealthy obsession with owls. Note my “Aww, I can’t believe you made this for us!” puppy dog face. It is probably zoom-worthy as well, but I’ll save that for another time.

Mr. Candy Corn unwrapped the presents (check out the level of concentration he had!) while I squealed at the pretty cards and flailed about.

I’m pretty sure that bow needs to be my new wedding hair accessory.

I can’t even imagine what it will be like on our wedding day, I feel like people have already done way too much for us and I couldn’t thank them enough.

Was anyone else completely overwhelmed by the crazy amount of love and support shown at your shower?

(All photos by Laura Kicey, apart from the animated GIF, which I am ashamed to say I made and giggled at for a good five minutes straight).

hilarious. BTW-
I LOVE my spot bot. When we got a puppy I sent pictures of the dog as well as the spot bot to people. I may have been equally excited about both.

Your recap made me laugh (gnomegasm), cry (quilt), and fume with jealousy (anthropologie).

I’m in love w/ the animated gif, myself, though the rest of it also had me laughing in a fashion entirely inappropriate for the workplace.

This thought has crossed my mind many times before from reading your entries but - I believe we may have been separated at birth! Unhealthy obsession for owls + that specific color of turquoise + MARTHA= nearly everything I live for.

I love the video and that you’re willing to make and show us goofy faces!!! I love making goofy faces for the camera, too. Hate those people that cover their faces for the camera.

Tiki says:

I don’t think I had realized during my earlier reads that you had an unhealthy obsession with owls…birds, maybe, but owls? anyway, just thought you’d get a kick out of this, if you haven’t seen it. I think it is the cutest cake ever. http://charmcitycakes.com/noflash/index.cfm?rd=cakes2&cat=2&id=299

If the link doesn’t work, go to the main site, then not-so-traditional cakes, then “Erica” (I think its number 33 of 94).

This post had me cracking up - at work no less! I’m practically pulling the neck of my shirt up to stifle my giggles….

Mostly because I was almost the exact same way at our enagement party and first bridal shower. I tend to always pull funny faces when a camera is pointed at me (it’s like something takes over me, I don’t know!) and I too was decorating my future hubby’s head with the bows from our lovely gifts.

It’s nice that they indulge us, isn’t it?

Thanks for providing me with a little hilarity this Friday afternoon. Your shower looks like tons of fun!

@MrsDavis:
oh my god i absolutely love the spotbot. last night betty white decided to have explosive doggy poo all over the carpet (i mean ALL over the carpet) at 3am, which normally would’ve taken me hours of scrubbing, but the spotbot saved the day and made my life a lot less easier and a lot less repulsive. sigh, silly dog with her random exploding poo.

@katya:
oh, there are many more goofy faces yet to come! :)

@EastportBride:
that cake is AMAZING. i would totally show it to our baker for cake inspiration but mr. candy corn would neuter me.
