About candycorn

I had my makeup trial this weekend and it went way better than I could’ve imagined! It seems pretty rare for a bride to be happy with her makeup on the first try, so I was thrilled to luck out at Jason Matthew Salon in Philadelphia, where the lovely Karen made me over. My daily makeup ritual consists of some lip gloss, a little foundation to cover up my ginormous nose pores and a swipe or two of eye shadow. So to have someone apply makeup to my face for an hour made me have flashbacks of my ***wee ballerina days (I hadn’t seen an eyelash curler since then). As an added bonus, there was an opening with Anthony, the super fabulous gent who made my spermified eyebrows go bye-bye painlessly. I also scheduled an appointment (50% off, score!) for my first ever microdermabrasion session with him in a few weeks. When I was getting my makeup done, Karen said it is a great way to remove dead skin (ick) and clean out the pores, which I could certainly use. I’m going to test out how my skin reacts and then if all goes well, I’ll schedule another session about two weeks before the wedding day.

Anyway, enough babbling and onto the before & after photos!

Before (wearing no makeup and still half asleep):

*dun dun dun!!*

After:

(With glasses, several hours after the trial)

As you may recall, I wanted something natural and simple, and Karen completely blew me away with the results. Plus, she’s incredibly cute and quirky, with a great sense of style, so it’ll be nice to have her around to distract me from being nervous on the morning of!

(Without glasses, just so you can get a better look)

After being pampered, Mr. Candy Corn and I checked out the hotel we’ll be staying at (Sofitel Philadelphia), which made us squeal in the lobby several times. So pretty! The hotel is in such a great area with tons of shopping and fabulous restaurants, so I’m hoping we’ll have a few spare moments to take advantage of all of that during our weekend of wedding fun!

Mr. Candy Corn was totally self conscious about the possibility of me posting photos of him on Weddingbee since he was in need of a shave, but I assured him the hive is aware that he’s a hairy monkey boy and loves him just the same (right? hehe).

This makeup trial is Miss Candy Corn tested, bee approved!!***

As a special blackmail-worthy treat, here is a photo of me in my ballerina days, twirling to the beat of my own drum (or baton). Check out that boa/sequined ensemble. Hot.

Was anyone else absolutely smitten with their makeup artist on the first try?

I LOVE IT! So natural and fresh looking! I’m going for that look too - nothing dramatic or extremely noticeable. I really love the photo of you and Mr. CC - ADORABLE!

I dont see any difference with and without it, I know you wanted to go natural…but I guess that is something you can DIY and save some $$$….

@Gery:
There’s definitely a difference, I probably just didn’t take the best pictures. She made my skin look smooth and covered up my dark circles under my eyes, as well as doing a great job on my eyes (I should’ve included a close-up pic), with liner/mascara/lots of eyeshadows. It may be hard to see a difference, but it’s definitely worth it for me since it gave me that little oomph I needed to feel confident on the day of.

@danathebride:
hahah aww thank you!

@indecisivebride:
thanks so much! i just don’t want to overdo it with makeup since i rarely wear any and it wouldn’t be “me” if i came in with makeup galore hehe!

My dear little Candy Corn, you look glowing, natural, dewy, etc. I really love your makeup so much!!! I can tell that Karen did a great job on your allergy related dark under eye circles. Maybe you should have taken some close-ups, but I can still see the difference.

In the pic of you and Mr. CC, your skin looks so smooth and perfect. I too love that pic and have to agree that Mr. CC looks good with the 5 o’clock shadow (an age old term).

If your heads weren’t cut off, that would have been a cool “engagement photo”.

On a somewhat separate note, maybe I should go ahead and splurge on the makeup appt. with Karen. I too could look dewy - I NEED dewy!!!!!!!

Love you, Momma Candy Corn

I got my make-up and hair done at Jason Matthew for my wedding– it was fantastic! Jason made my hair look great and the woman who did the makeup did a wonderful job (and my make-up lasted all night through a hot and sticky July wedding)

I live in south florida and found a girl to do my makeup and hair. She came to my house for a trial. It was the best thing I could have done. I did not like what she did for me at first so we changed it and was very happy. Had I not done a trial run, can you imagine having that happen on my wedding day. Always to a trial run. I know of several brides who did not. They looked good at the hair dresser’s place, but when they got home and took a real good look…. horrible.

CC - you look beautiful from you trial. I want to add that I was SUPER happy with my makeup trial with Cindy from Dylan Michael cosmetics. She made me look like a more fabulous version of myself - I had heard horror stories about brides looking unrecognizable on their wedding day and just wanted my man to think I looked great. Added bonus - she does her trial for free so you can check her out no strings attached.
