About Mrs. Green Tea

Tree of Love

August 21st, 2008 @ 5:05 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

I’m happy to announce the near completion of one of my favorite wedding projects - the Marriage Celebration Tree!

We requested (and sometimes begged) for wedding pictures from our married guests, along with their wedding date and a quote of their choice. Here is how we’re displaying them (a few more are still in the works, and please excuse our messy garage!):

The cards are hung with mini clothespins tied to the trees with red strings. Here up front and center is a picture I adore of my FMIL and FFIL:
On the back of the picture there is the name of the couple, their wedding date, and their quote if they provided one:
As you can kinda see, some provided short and sweet notes, others gave us whole paragraphs!
For our parents and grandparents only, I want to add some kind of indicator sorta like this lil’ hanging strip:Our idea is that our wedding is one shared with our guests. It is really important to us that it is a celebration of love and marriage, rather than just the joining of just us two. I hope this helps convey the message!

Holy Moly — I swear we’re on the same page so much of the time, gt! I juuuuust posted today, like a coupla hours ago about some of our married guest photos! I love it! I bought frames at wal mart for $2 a piece and I’m just trying to figure out how to get their wedding date somewhere on there. Throughout this whole wedding planning, I keep thinking about how incredibly significant our date is to us and what that day means…it’s really important to me to include other people’s dates with their photos too…a way to recognize how long they’ve been married and how significant that day was for them! I’m also planning to give the couple the photo, framed with whatever we put on it (date, names, etc) as a little token from our wedding too…I totally agree…such a special way to include people! Since we have 180 guests, we decided to stop at parents, grandparents, bridal party, and very special family and friends…with that we’ll have 13 or so. They’ll be displayed just anywhere a framed photo can sit somewhere in our reception. Great minds think alike, I guess :)

I love the idea of displaying old wedding photos from guests as a celebration of marriage, and we’ll definitely be finding a way to work it in!

This is a GREAT alternative to showcasing family photos - and one that celebrates the marriage of all your guests - great idea!

Hi,
I am decorating for a wedding next week and have plans on doing this project. Could you tell me the size of you photos? They look to be about 4×6 but I wasn’t sure. Also about how tall and wide is your tree? Sorry for all the question! Your tree turned out great!
