Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting… I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly…
About Mrs. Champagne

After what may have been the most fast-paced and INTENSE dress weekend in Boston, I decided I’d better weigh the options without the influence of any champagne! I had found two dresses I loved, and I just needed to think. I was with my FMIL and two future sisters, and my Mom really wanted to hear about my top two choices before I made the final decision. The problem with the two options is that they were COMPLETELY different. One had a very romantic feeling to it, and the other was definitely more “stately” on me, if that makes any sense.

The first dress is Jim Hjelm 8657. I loved this dress, and we nicknamed it “The Kennedy dress”! I can’t lie- I felt like Jackie-o! :) The only problem with the “Kennedy dress” was that the pictures on the website were ONLY of the back! What the poop?! I tried to show them to my mom and explain to her that it was really was beautiful, but I just couldn’t explain the dress. That same night, I logged onto Weddingbee, and on the first page, Miss Penguin was wearing “The Kennedy dress”! At least I could show my mom one front picture. It wasn’t a picture of me in the dress but it certainly was beautiful on you, Peng!

And dress number two is the complete opposite! The second dress is one I didn’t ever think I would love, mainly because it’s more of an A-line than I thought I would like. I actually never even saw this dress before the dress weekend, so it hit me by complete surprise (AND it was significantly under my original dress budget)!

The detail of the dress is so pretty… it’s very romantic, but it’d require some hefty alterations to make the dress a bit more snug in the bum, and more of a mermaid fit. I lovvve me some mermaid!

*********

Champ…. if you’re reading this…. I command you to STOP! (We command each other a lot- i.e. I command you to kiss me, things like that)

Now remember, it’ll be champagne with ivory lace

A little side shot. Too many big paper clips to get a real idea, but you get the general idea!

I promise I’ll get some better pictures at my first fitting! :)

The classic mirror shot..

I feel so many things (as every bride should!) in this dress… a little intense, a little scary-faced, but excited enough to skip right down that aisle (minus the dress clips, obviously)!

What’s the look you want for your wedding day- romantic, stately, elegant, or something else? Are you going to have major alterations to complete your perfect look?

I love how your face in the last pic says it all - I just picked up my dress from my seamstress today, alterations and all. With three weeks to go before my wedding, I am wearing the same exact face today :)

Ooh I love that Casablanca on you! I tried it on when I was dress-shopping and it is a fab, flattering, feminine dress.

That’s funny because the SAME thing happened to me. I was going for a very simple but classic white dress, similar to the first one you show…then I ran into a lacey Casablanca and fell in love, but I just can’t buy it because it’s not what I always saw myself in! I think I’m just waiting for my mother to come up here so I can try it on in front of her and have her tell me “it’s ok if it’s not what you always imagined” I think in my heart I know which dress is for me though!

@Lissy: @Valerie: It’s Casablanca 1827, and the one I tried on was actually Ivory but you can see how WHITE it looks in pictures, which is actually why I’m getting it in champagne.

@Kristen: Isn’t it funny how we can’t fully admit that it’s “the one” unless mom or someone special oks it?! good luck!!!

I think my sister wore the same dress, but in ivory…not champagne. And, hers was more A-line. You’re going to rock the mermaid!!!

I wore the same Casablanca dress for my wedding in champagne and I LOVED IT. It’s actually still hanging in my closet because I can’t seem to put it away. Considering I had an outdoor August wedding, it was comfortable and felt very light. Good choice and I’m sure your husband-to-be will love it.

LOVE it! This is my dress as well and I had exactly the same experience; fell in love with this casablanca, realized I wanted more of a mermaid fit, and immediately called the seamstress to see if it was possible to have the A-line made more snug around the hips. I can’t wait to see how yours turns out!, it looks beautiful on you in the pictures.

The alterations are perfectly showing off your ah-may-zing shape. I think the dress fits (what I know of you) perfectly! I beam like that when I wear my dress as well :)

Oh, Miss Champagne, I knew I loved you. Not only are we both using the hints of damask, and black/gold color scheme but the SAME DRESS TOO! I am also having it altered to a mermaid shape and just had my first fitting on Friday. I bought a mermaid slip to accentuate the shape. Just keep in mind that the dress isn’t made to do this, so there is a lot of extra fabric at the back in the rear area b/c this is where the train starts. If you go too mermaid you’ll lose a lot of that gorgeous beading. I’m doing mermaid about 3/4 of the way around and leaving some of the beading back there which also gives some room to sit and dance! I’ll let you know how it turns out and if you’re interested will send you some pictures so you can decide?
