My Bachelorette Party!

August 22nd, 2008 @ 5:05 pm by Mrs. Pinot Noir

My bachelorette party is this weekend and I can’t wait! My bridesmaid and FSIL have been planning the entire thing and I don’t have a clue what the plans are. My only hint:

I will be “wearing a white shirt (and it isn’t too embarrassing)” and there will be champagne!

The party will be in NYC and all my favorite gals are coming to town (except my MOH because she lives too far away). I’ve kicked Mr. PN out for the weekend so our apartment will be the home base, and all the girls are crashing there for a slumber party.

I think this weekend will be especially great for a couple of reasons. First, two other girls are recently engaged and this is the first time I will see them since the big proposal! In addition, unlike many people I know, I don’t really have a “group” of friends. I have moved a lot in the last 6 years and I went to college part-time (at three universities) so I never really had a close-knit group of gals. At times I was very jealous of the Sex & The City gals - four friends who know everything about each other and would do anything for one another. Over time I have come to appreciate that my closest friends come from all over the country and very different walks of life. I have a unique and meaningful bond with each of them! As a result of my crazy desire to pick up and move, none of the girls at my bachelorette party (or my wedding) know each other. This weekend will be a great way for everyone to get to know each other before the wedding in October.

I promise to post a major recap next week full of photos and details! We have a bonafide photographer in the group so things could get interesting!

You’re not alone, I don’t have a huge group of friends like a lot of women do. You’ll still have a blast at your bachlorette! :)

My bridal party is also all made up of women from different parts of my life. At first when I realized it, I was a little bummed b/c none of them know each other well, then I too, realized how special it is to me that I have nearly my whole life represented with one group (of very special) ladies! I can honestly say that in 10 years I know I will still be in touch with all of them.
