My Scent-lemma!

August 22nd, 2008 @ 2:34 pm by Mrs. Pomegranate

I’m having a bit of a dilemma in regards to picking a perfume - or scent-lemma, as I like to call it! Mr. Pomegranate has the lovely habit of picking up random bottles of perfume for me on a semi-regular basis. Mr. Pom most definitely likes his lady to smell nice - and I’m not complaining! He’s introduced me to some really amazing scents through this habit of his, and I really enjoy knowing that he loves what I spray on myself every morning.

Now that I have a small collection of yummy scents, I’ve got the dilemma - ahem - scent-lemma, of choosing which to wear on our wedding day. I don’t wear the classic Estee Lauder Beautiful or Vera Wang Princess, so it’s not an obvious choice for me. Here are the top 4 contenders:

Miss Dior Cherie

The newest of the mix - it’s currently my scent of choice. It’s got a sweet undertone that’s almost as addictive as candy. Normally I hate patchouli, but this is subtle.
Notes:
Green Tangerine, Violette, Pink Jasmine, Patchouli, Crystalline Musk, Strawberry Leaves, Caramelized Popcorn, Strawberry Sorbet.
Style:
Pure. Precious. Modern.

Missoni Acqua

I actually sent Mr. Pom out for its predecessor, Missoni, but he ended up liking Acqua better - I have to admit I agree! It’s very summery and fresh.
Notes:

Fresh Grapefruit, Vibrant Bergamot, Juicy Melon, Sensual Narcisse, Crisp Muguet, Velvety Violet, Blue Freesia, Voluminous Peony, Tuscan Iris, Petal Jasmine, Sole.
Style:
Dewy. Sparkling. Refreshing.

Juicy Couture

This was the first perfume Mr. Pom ever picked out for me - and I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical at first. I’m not big on the Juicy Couture line of wares (aside from their comfy-yet-pricey sweats) so I wasn’t sure what to expect with their perfume. I’ve since gotten more compliments on this scent than any others!
Notes:
Watermelon, Mandarin, Pink Passion Fruit, Marigold, Green Apple, Water Hyacinth, Crushed Leaves, Tuberose Absolute, Wild Rose, Princess Lily, Tuberose, Caramel Creme Brulee, Vanilla, Precious Woods, Patchouli.
Style:
Flirtatious. Romantic. Precious.

Marc Jacobs Daisy

I love this scent - and the bottle it’s in! It’s so neutral and light - not overpowering at all - and feminine.
Notes:
Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine Petals, Musk, Vanilla, White Woods.
Style:
Bright. Alluring. Eternal.

Which perfume do you think I should wear on our wedding day?

Of all that you’ve listed, the only one I’ve worn is Miss Dior Cherie. I actually wore it on my wedding day! It’s now my ‘everyday’ perfume and my husband loves it on me. :)

I wore Miss Dior Cherie on my wedding day too! I love getting a quick whiff of it and recalling the entire day! I try not to wear it everyday so I don’t cloud my memory of my wedding day.

I don’t wear too much actual perfume, I prefer perfume oils. I’ll probably pick out something new from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.

I just remember hating daisy…truth be told.

have you ever tried the victoria secrets scents. they are light and fun and my hubby loves them

I read somewhere that if you’re a sensory type person, a new scent is for you. Every time you smell it, you’ll think of your wonderful wedding day because you won’t have any previous associations with that smell. I bought Michael Kors perfume for my special day.

This wasn’t a choice, but I say go with a new scent and get something by Jo Malone. I love all of her scents and then you’ll have a special wedding “smell”. If you must pick one, I saw pick the sentimental favorite and go with the Juicy. It’s the first one he ever bought you, that counts for something!

My decision was between Juicy (which I was also surprised I liked) and Daisy (which I voted for). But I’ve also never smelled the other ones so… I’m only a little helpful :)

Ryn says:

Ok, so what I think you should do is pack up all four scents and bring them to the hotel that you are getting ready in…the bottles are so pretty Travis will get a nice detail shot with them…then, when you are getting ready, you’ll have all four there and one will call to you with a special memory or compliment and it will come naturally. Don’t force it, bring them all and decide on your special day!

I love Dior Cherie. It’s so light and lasts all day… it’s my daily go to.

Brianna says:

i honestly get so many compliments EVERY time I wear Daisy!

Starry-Eyed Barefoot Bride says:

I dont know what any of them smell like. But I would go with something light, that you like, and if at all possible, one Mr Pom might recognize as something he picked out for you.

Allergic to Daisy says:

I am going through a scent-crisis as well and went to a perfume store this past weekend. I have heard so many good reviews of Daisy so I thought I would give it a try. Well…. to me, it smelled like cut weeds. ON me, it smelled even worse. My mother absolutely hated it too. I think Miss Dior Cherie has a certain joi de vivre and romance that is right for a wedding. Not to add to your scent dilemma, but have you tried Bright Crystal by Versace? It has a very elegant floral with sparkling clean base note.

Miss X says:

I’m totally scent challenged. I don’t wear any scent daily (unless my hairspray and deoderant count?), and I’m terrible at picking out a scent that I like.

Am I the only one?!?

I don’t know these, so I’m no help. :( I’m a Chanel Chance girl, but for my wedding, I switched to Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. I love SJ, and the scent just seemed special and romantic enough for my big day.

I doubt this helps, but I hope you find a scent that will bring back a lovely memory for you!

I voted for Daisy for a couple reasons - a) I like the smell & b) I like the bottle hehehehe :)
I wear Lolita Lempricka - based on the other fragrances you wear you may (and Mr. Pom) may also like it :)

I’m wearing Daisy on *my* wedding day :)

I’m a CK Eternity Moment girl for everyday, Chanel Chance for drama, and Ana Sui for romance, but I wanted something new for Wedding.

I’ve been slyly having my fiancé smell my perfume choices one or two at a time when we go out shopping. Without telling him what they are, of course. Daisy was by far the favorite, so done and done!

I wore Daisy on my wedding day!!! :) It was a toss up between D&G Light Blue, Vera Wang Princess and MJ Daisy and I chose Daisy because it was so fresh and light and we were having an outdoor wedding. Plus it was a new scent for me and I wanted something new to wear that would always remind me of our wedding day,

I too am a bit of a perfume freak. I read the notes listed on Sephora like others read People!
I LOVE Miss Dior Cherie, LOVELOVELOVE it! Sometimes I leave work and walk to the place that sells it near by just to spray it on!

I say go for a brand new scent, perhaps Mr.Pom could surprise you with one seeing as he has such a good nose for such things!

nowmrswhite says:

another you could try is stella by stella mccartney (check out nordstrom). a friend of mine started wearing it and i LOVED it on her, so i (once she moved out of state so I wasn’t blatantly copying her) copied her ;) and bought it for myself. it’s very rosey, but refreshingly so, not old lady.

Just Saying says:

For me, it’s a tie between Chanel Chance or Fresh Sake or Canabis Rose. . . I’ll get both and wear one to the Rehearsal and the other for the big day.

I like the Dior one the best, seems the most “special” and “wedding-y”
