Trying to plan a wedding in a new city, not to mention a new country, is tough, but the fact that we can get legally married here more than makes up for it! The wedding will be an opportunity for most of our family and friends to see our new city for the first time so it will be both a wedding and a reunion. About Mrs. Gingerbread

Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi wed on August 16th with a small ceremony at their home.

Check out Ellen’s hilarious announcement of her wedding that she has on her website. She also has a few more pictures there.

For more coverage of Ellen and Portia’s wedding, see the latest issue of People.

In addition, Ellen will be showing her viewers more behind-the-scenes wedding footage when her show returns to the air early next month. I can’t wait! :)

Congratulations to Ellen & Portia and to all the other same-sex couples that are tying the knot in California (before the election that could make same-sex marriage illegal in the state). Here is wishing you a long and happy marriage!

OMgosh. What’s not to love about this wedding? That top picture was my fave of what I’ve seen. Not only are they adorably in love but the decor is fabulous. Love the centerpieces, the mismatched-yet matchy chairs and their matching blingy wedding bands. I also love that most of the coverage I’ve seen didn’t highlight that it was a LESBIAN wedding. It was just another fab celeb wedding. Hopefully that shows that times, they are a-changin’.

I never buy People, but I am going to buy this issue just to show support for Ellen & Portia (and, okay, to revel in the wedding pics!)

Yay for them and YAY for love!

I am a newlywed in California and just had to share something with all of you.
The marriage license here now says “Party A and Party B” instead of bride and groom. I’ve been in the process of changing my name and have had quite an interesting time! The Social Security office person said “hmmm, I have to have the director look at this. I’ve never seen one where the groom wasn’t first and it doesn’t even say bride and groom “. I said, “Isn’t it great that it doesn’t matter anymore?!” =) So, even though I have a groom, I still feel pretty special to have a Party A and Party B license - it’s pretty cool statement.

There is nothing in this world more beautiful than the joy on the faces of two people who are deeply in love. I hope they are blessed with many years of happiness, and that the morons in the state of California who don’t realize that love just IS don’t get the opportunity to besmirk that joy in the slightest.

er, meant “besmirch” not “besmirk” : )

So endearingly sweet–I wish them lots of luck and lots of love. I always giggle whenever I see the episode of 30 Rock where Liz Lemon (aka Tina Fey) opines: “You can’t be gay for one person, unless you’re a woman and you meet Ellen.” :-) And of course, Portia will always be Nelle from Ally McBeal, mostly because I never got into Arrested Development. :-)

But seriously–yay for love conquering all!
