About Mrs. Lemonade

Howdy Hive!

August 24th, 2008 @ 5:40 pm by Mrs. Lemonade

Hi, ya’ll! I’m Miss Lemonade and I really couldn’t be happier to be here! I’m also pretty shy and not too fond of being the center of attention (not quite sure how that ‘s gonna work out for me on W day) so writing this particular post has been a bit difficult. Lucky me, ya’ll have all been so kind and welcoming which has made it so much easier!

So, about me… I’m a Texan (big ups to my fellow Texas brides, including the lovely Miss Hydrangea) with mad Texas pride and a deep appreciation of (almost) all things traditional, preppy, and southern.

I’m a nerd who is passionate about political theory and public policy. Lucky for me, Mr. Lemonade is pretty into it too. We usually spend our nights debating constitutional law and the effects of the current 24-hour news cycle over dinner. I know, we’re very romantic like that.

I’m also a huge fan of alliteration, the parenthetical aside, excessive use of exclamation points, and brutal honesty (thus, I WILL be sharing the good, bad, and ugly with ya’ll – and trust me, there’s plenty of each).

Mr. Lemonade and I seem to have known each other our entire lives. Yet, it took fate’s willing participation for us to finally formally meet and we’ve been together ever since. He really is my best friend – simply put, he’s the coolest.

However, I never wanted to get married. Like, ever, and I have no idea what changed. But something did, and so did I, and I truly have never been happier.

And that’s about it!

Since it’s already about 101 degrees out, I’m off to cool off with a refreshing glass of…

Hi Miss Lemonade, glad you’ve joined the Hive! I’m a big fan of political theory and philosophy and all things preppy=all things wonderful in my mind :)

Welcome from Fort Worth! Always glad to read about things and places that I can actually relate to :)

[But for the record, it's spelled y'all - a contraction of the word "you" and the word "all." Stupid thing to point out, I know, but as an English student, drives me nuts!]

@kandaceandjason: I use y’all too, but I’ve seen “ya’ll” from a number of Texans. If you look online, it’s a known variant; I think it’s because it looks more phonetically like the true southern pronunciation (yawl)!

Woo hoo! I too am a fan of alliteration, the parenthetical aside, excessive use of exclamation points. And, well, you know that Mr. HC and I are big policy dorks too. Virtual hug and welcome to the hive.

I use parentheses like no other (as you may already know). I’ll be living in Dallas after the wedding, which makes me a kind of a pre-Texan I think? Can’t wait to read your posts.

Welcome! I’m excited to see what Kenndyesque things you incorporate…so classic.

KandaceandJason - I’m SO happy you mentioned the y’all vs. ya’ll thing. As a southerner it drives me CRAZY when fellow southerners use ya’ll since it looks like we either don’t know what a contraction is or can’t spell. Just adds to our bad rep and linguistically makes no sense. I’m with you on this one!
