It’s Taking Over EVERYTHING

August 24th, 2008 @ 7:00 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

A while back I posted on how the wedding was taking over our entire (previously empty) dining room. I figured it would stay designated to this area, but I have to say, I was wrong.

It started off with me innocently bringing some paper and my handy cutter to get things prepared for various wedding things (escort cards, favors, etc.) into our kitchen dining area, so that I could watch a little tv and not be on the other side of the house as Mr. H while I was working on my crafts. It ended up as this:

I have to say, Mom H and I made it worse this past Saturday. If you notice in the pic above, there is a big, black printer on the table now. We made our first trip to the first Paper Source in Dallas and they recommended this awesome color inkjet printer for paper projects. At only $99 (plus the price of a USB cord), Mom H decided it would be a good investment with all the paper projects I have taken on lately, so we headed to our local Office Max and she gifted this to me for all of my creativity (and a promise that I would create a couple different thank you notes for her).

Ahhh, true happiness. Now, not only can I create, but I can print!

It’s an Epson Stylus Photo RX595. Printer, copier and scanner, all in one. We went to several office stores until we could find one. Word to the wise - find wherever it is listed at the lowest price and see if the location where it’s available will price match. We found this at Staples for $99, but at Office Max it was $129. Turns out, they price match and so we happily left with the printer for the $99 price.

After 14 months of planning, I guess I shouldn’t have been all that surprised that our home is now our wedding mecca. Have any of you taken over numerous rooms in your home as the wedding progresses?

I just ordered this printer today from Amazon and wished I would have looked at other stores! I bought it for 109, so I guess a whole, $10 isn’t that big of a difference, BUT it is in a wedding budget!

let me know how it works, I’ve heard it’s the mecca of DIY project as far as printers go!

Oh, printers.

As someone who formerly worked at an OfficeMax, I am very well-acquainted with printer brands–but more importantly, with printer inks. HP is the best when it comes to purchasing more printer ink–they tend to be the least expensive–but Epson is pretty good as well. Lexmark is by far the worst–you get super-cheap printers, but the ink goes fast and is the most expensive to replace.

As for your real question–my old bedroom at my parents’ house is freaking wedding mecca, complete with the wineglass I have to power through the jobs. ;-)

I don’t have the option of letting wedding stuff take over rooms of my house - my fiance and I are moving into a studio apartment in New York later this week! I’m gonna have to learn to contain everything. Or periodically ship finished projects home for my mom to store in my old bedroom!

Congrats on the new printer! What are the main selling points on it? Good print quality, or is there something else that makes it especially good for DIY stuff?

You should see my guest room!…pew bows, favors, candles and so on.

My shower was a week ago and its now that much busier.

Its okay though, I walk in quietly, look around, then just smile.

Good luck with that new printer and don’t worry about the dining room; it will be clear before too long.

I know the feeling.

What I had to do is designate a room just for the wedding. It really made a difference, otherwise I found that things were all over the place and often could not find what I was looking for.

Hahah I totally know the feeling. In fact, (and this probably isn’t going to make you feel any better), it has been a few months since the wedding now and I still have one room practically taken over with wedding stuff (though I’m proud for condensing it down to one room!)! When you take on so much yourself though I think it just seems to be the name of the game.

So, how do you like the printer? I’m afraid I need a new one…

I am just about to buy that printer after seeing it at PaperSource! Let us know how you like it.

Our entire apartment is wedding mecca. There’s no point in cleaning it up since I have to work on it each day after work. Why spend the time packing and unpacking when I can be creating :) I have the same issue as you, I have a designated area to work but then ifI decide to watch TV, I bring my little paper cutter and a few papers, and before I know it, everything is huddled in front of the TV!
This will pass, right?!

I bought this printer last year and have LOVED it for all of my wedding projects! It prints extremely fast, especially compared to my old ink jet. I also printed all of my CD designs with the CD tray…and with the scanner and copier functions, this printer is a rockstar! Easily one of the best purchases I have made!
