One Track Mind

August 25th, 2008 @ 11:56 am by Mrs. Sea Breeze

Now that I have my dress, I’m seeing similar dresses everywhere.

I mean, I know they say that there’s no such thing as a coincidence, since when you have something on your mind you notice things that support those thoughts, but still.

Can it really be just me or do there seem to be an uncanny number of dresses out there with the same tiered loveliness and/or architectural feel?

(No peeking, Mr Sea Breeze!)

Once you found your dress, did you also feel that you ‘coincidentally’ kept seeing similar dresses everywhere?

It’s so funny that you posted the Lela Rose’s…those are my three choices for a dress for my vow renewal. I love them.

It’s the in look! I wore the Venus Bridal dress for my May wedding and I got tons of compliments. The tiered look is unusual, but classic.

That definitely happened to me, and I think part of it was that I was drawn to dresses that had similar elements to mine, so I noticed them more. But also I think tiers and architectural elements are really in right now, so that’s probably part of it too.

@KateMW: I adore Lela Rose!

@franny: Congratulations. I’m sure everyone will remember the dress, too.

@Valerie: Allure Exclusive Bridal P740.

It’s funny you see so many similarities. As soon as I saw your dress, I thought it was so close to the one I just chose by Rivini (http://www.brides.com/fashion/dresses/gallery/wedding_dresses/runway/designer/rivini/detail/144848?offset=55). And I’m getting married in the DR too! But I hadn’t been able to find any that looked similar, so thanks for posting them all.

It’s Jung’s theory of synchronicity. Same as once you decide to get a beagle you see beagles everywhere, or red suede shoes, or a VW bus. It just means that your mind is more tuned in to the tiered frequency : )

Hmm..I tried posting a comment, but got an error message so sorry if it ends up double posting.

I LOVE YOUR DRESS!

My dress also has tiered ruffles, but flowy and on a diagonal:

I never noticed tiered dresses with ruffles until after I bought my dress :)

Love your dress… you are stunning! I tried on this style and fell in love with it but my booty is a bit too prominent to pull off that many tiers :) I went w/ another Allure Exclusives style (tiered w/ ribbon and lace paneling) and was extremely happy. It arrived a bit askew (one panel was crooked -yikes) but the seamstress fixed it w/o extra charges. I was incredibly comfortable all day and had so many compliments about the dress.

I think you may notice this style more now that you’ve made your final decision and it’s on your mind. Kind of like when I bought my car then suddenly noticed it everywhere!

@CarolineG: Ah yes, Jung to the rescue!

@indecisivebride: It’s beautiful, so flowy and flirty!

@megs08: Thankfully I think I am finally at peace with my booty, hee hee. Which style was your dress? I’d love to see.

Your reticular activator is on, that’s why you see the same dress every where… :)

I had the same experience when I saw your dress. Three days before you chose your dress, the June ‘08 Knotties picked the same dress as the best dress:

Yes, you must be ahead of the trends. I keep forgetting you guys are not real-time blogging all the time. It is a beautiful dress!

There’s no such thing as coincidence- John Galliano did it for Christian Dior in the spring 2007 couture line. check it out… http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/S2007CTR-CDIOR Lots of bridal looks originate in the couture lines, just not in aqua and lime green! It’s a beautiful look and you look amazing in the dress!

I’m wearing Venus in June! My version has a longer train and I’m thinking of adding some bling to the empire waist line, but I can’t decide. Love the tiers!
