If you’re like me, you probably hadn’t heard of boudoir photography until the beginning of your wedding planning process. I remembered immediately shuddering when I first heard about it, as I imagined myself trying to be sexy in front of a photographer. I saw myself striking a George Costanza-like pose on a chaise, in my socks and underwear. The idea of wearing lingerie in front of a stranger, or even a friend, gave me the heebie jeebies.
I was the girl in junior high who got changed in the bathroom stalls instead of the locker room because I hated the idea of people seeing the slightest glimpse of my naughty bits. Although I’m a decade older now, I’m still a shy girl who wears a t-shirt over her bathing suit at the pool. Needless to say, I wasn’t all about the boudoir photos. That is, until I saw how tasteful the boudoir photos of my fellow bees were. I figured, what the hell, I’m only young once, maybe it’ll help me stop being so darn self conscious. Plus I need proof to show the grandkiddies one day that my cornmuffins weren’t always down to my knees!
My only problems were:
a.) I didn’t have enough money to splurge on a boudoir photo session
and
b.) I knew I would turn into a total spazz with someone behind the camera looking at me, no matter how much we meshed.
So, over the weekend, I sat up my tripod and my Canon point & shoot and pushed the 10-second timer button constantly for a good hour, while Mr. Candy Corn remained oblivious in the other room.
I know these aren’t exactly professional photos, but I had to make the best out of what was available to me: a tiny bedroom, wrinkly sheets, a handful of boy-style undies, and a sad little lamp. These photos are super cropped, since I don’t want to give the readers (or my mother, for that matter) an overdose of sauciness. Let the parental heckling begin. I can already hear my mom saying “What a little sexpot!”
Anyway, enough rambling. Here’s a brief look into my DIY boudoir session:

Are there any other shy/broke brides out there who are going to DIY their boudoir photos?
So beautiful!
