Caramel Apple Delight

August 28th, 2008 @ 7:12 pm by Mrs. Espresso

Yesterday I made my way up to Big Bear to tie up some loose ends before the wedding. Stop #3 on the to do list: North Pole Fudge and Ice Cream Co. (Posts on stop 1 and 2 to come).

North Pole is located within the Village and full of so many scrumptious and yummy treats. But I was there for one reason and one reason only: secure 1/3 of our reception dessert bar. Such a tough job I know…

Mr. Espresso and I decided to forgo a wedding cake in exchange for a dessert bar. Our desserts will include caramel apples, cupcakes, and cheesecake for Mr. E.

My purpose at North Pole was to order the caramel apples. And they, combined with all the other goodies in the store, were overwhelming my senses. I wanted everything. And even now, the pictures are making me hungry again.

I ended up choosing 3 different types for our reception:

  1. Regular Caramel Apples
  2. Caramel Apples Dipped in Milk Chocolate and then Drizzled with White Chocolate
  3. Caramel Apples Dipped in White Chocolate and then rolled in smashed Oreo Cookies… yum

I love caramel apples. They remind me of fall, blustery weather, harvest festivals, and October. And now- I’ll get to add our wedding to the list.

Are any of you forgoing a wedding cake for a special treat you love?

I love Carmel Apples….I always think of them as nutritious, yet super delicious! Great choices Miss Espresso on your apple selection. For dessert, we’ll be serving ice cream sandwiches made with chocolate chip cookies and vanilla bean ice cream! Although…I’m still thinking about having a cake! Who can ever have enough sweets?

Caramel apples in white chocolate are one of the most decadent treats known to man. My roommates started making them last year and they were sinful and bad and horrible and oh so delicious.
Your wedding will be a little bit messy, but a lot good with those around.

We’re forgoing cake (b/c I hate cake) and having 5 different kinds of pie from a local farmstand served with vanilla ice cream made at a local dairy. I thought about making carmel apples as favors, but that is one DIY project that I think I am going to pass on …. spending those precious hours with all of our guests on the Thursday and Friday before seemed more important.

It’s a good thing I’m not going to be attending your wedding because you’d probably find me hidden out somewhere with maybe ten of your caramel apples. And I’d be a (very happy) sticky mess :)

we’re also forgoing the cake. i don’t hate it (i mean, how could i? it’s got sugar in it), but my fiance does. we’re getting married in december, so we’re doing hot cocoa and warm chocolate chip cookies instead - both things that we love. yay!

@Miss Avocado: If you were at my wedding- I’d personally cut yours up so we’d have no more tooth accidents ;)
