Getting on the Bandwagon

August 29th, 2008 @ 11:54 am by Mrs. Cherry Pie

You know those photo-sharing cards that all the Bees made for their wedding guests? Well, maybe not every Bee but Lemon, Cream Puff, Cherry Blossom, Penguin, Flamingo, aaaaaannnnd *pant, pant* probably at least five more that I have forgotten.

Well, I made some too! Not to be a copy-cat, but because they’re such a neat idea and many bees have reported great success with them:

Too bad the lighting and carpet color in that photo makes them look kind of poopy.

The cards I made are business card sized to make them easy for our guests to store in their wallets. I didn’t use a business card printing service to do them… but you could find one that would take care of the whole job for cheap. Instead, I made my own template, below, using elements from our invitation suite:

cp1

Then, I tiled this design repeatedly across an 11″x8.5″ page (landscape style), and printed it up on Paper Source khaki cover stock. Finally I spent a good half an hour slicing, slicing, slicing with a paper cutter.

The whole job cost me less than five dollars (for paper) and about three hours of my time between designing, printing, and cutting. If we can get even more priceless wedding photos out of this deal, it was time very well spent!

Are any of you making something similar to remind your guests to share their photos?

I think these are a great idea! I started my design for these a few days ago!

We are just sending folks an email after the wedding with a link and instructions… that way they won’t lose the card and password.

Since we are making CDs as our favors, we included instructions next to the track listing–I had been struggling to figure out what to do with that panel, and happily this worked out well!

We’re doing this - and I’ve gone one step further to make sure our guests will take the cards: I punched a small hole and tied the cards to our favours - bottles of maply syrup - so the cards are attached to their favours!

I too am jumping on this bandwagon! If there is one thing I love more than wedding pictures, it is MORE wedding pictures! I would love for our guests to send us their shots! Great idea!

I’m totally stealing your idea. ;)

We had business cards printed by moo with pictures of us on the front and instructions for our flickr account on the back. I think it’s a great idea!

Where are you putting them at your wedding? I think this is a very cute idea!

We did the same thing, just added a blurb to the bottom of our ceremony programs. Our wedding website has a similar note, but rather than putting our password on there for everyone on the interwebs to see, we posted our flickr upload email address. Photos emailed to that address automagically get posted to our flickr account.

ooh, good call on that egad!

We just did these for my sister’s wedding, and … I’m trying to cultivate some action on their flickr site while they’re away on their honeymoon, but so far we haven’t seen much uploading…

belated comment, but: i just did this for my wedding and NO ONE took them home! :( i really wish we’d made an annoucement to remind people to take them.

i ordered mine from vistaprint and they come in quantities of 250, so i’m thinking about sticking them in with my thank you cards. hopefully guests won’t think it’s tacky to be hit up for pictures as they are being thanked..
