About Me: I'm a happy-go-lucky, imaginative spirit trapped in the body of a lawyer. I love reading, shopping, dining out, and exploring my beloved adopted city of Chicago with my fiance. We're planning the wedding of our dreams in my hometown of Los Angeles and we're excited to incorporate our cherished Indian/Pakistani customs and traditions.

Now that I share a shower with Mr. Jasmine, he’s become privy to my dirty little secret: an unhealthy obsession with beauty and bath products. Our shower stall overflows with shampoo, conditioner, various scented body washes, scrubs, etc. But I have to admit that despite the frightening collection of bath products, I loyally stick to Product Body every time I get in the shower. I’ve posted about my obsession with Product Body before and months later, I’m still a happy devotee. The “champagne Crush on You” scrubbed my skin into glowy submission before the wedding and honeymoon. Months later, I’m still thrilled with its satisfying consistency, dreamy scent, and unbelievable softening properties.

About Me: I grew up in the Deep South, and while most people say I have a thick southern accent, I tend to think it only comes out when I need to use it. Living in Las Vegas has definitely been an adventure and Mr. Dumpling and I are loving every minute of it! We are planning a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony and a reception with lots of DIY! We might even get Elvis to show up! I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, love The Office and can't wait to become a Mrs.!
I absolutely adore cake, and I would eat it for every meal if I could (shh! Don’t tell the South Beach Diet people!), but we won’t be having one at our wedding. Sigh.
When we first started looking at wedding cakes, I got so excited thinking about all of the possibilities out there. Chocolate raspberry? Yes! Carrot Cake? Mmm hmm! A different flavor for every tier? Okay! We even found a baker we liked, so we sent her a picture of our dream cake, along with our budget, and she responded that it was all definitely doable. So, we had a cake tasting and we were thrilled! The cakes were delicious!

Here’s the dream cake photo we showed the baker. Photo from The Knot.

About Me: I'm a small town mountain girl with a city heart. Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting… I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly…
If there’s one accessory or detail we haven’t really thought about, it’s probably the cake topper. I guess we never considered having one until I saw how much variation in toppers there are these days. From clay custom models to adorable little birds, there really is a style for every couple.
We’ll start with the classic monogram and script cake toppers:

About Me: Mr. Cupcake and I hit it off at a Halloween party and immediately began a long-distance relationship. After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.
One aspect of the wedding that has been stressing us out for a while has been finding a charming place for us to take photos at that won’t impose on the brief time frame we have to take pictures. I know that our fab photographers, The Wiebners, will compose fantastic photos no matter where we are, but I still wanted to find something with a little charm and interest.
Enter Mama Cupcake, who came to the rescue after scouting out a few places around our reception site, The Desmond. Only two minutes away is Valley Creek Park, which, aside from being perfectly convenient, has an adorable spring house and a larger house (we think perhaps the groundskeeper’s residence?) that have just the charm and character we were looking for:

I love writing, computers, photography, and the great outdoors. I spend most of my time playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band or geeking out online with Mr. Cherry Pie. I'm happiest when I'm on the road, especially traveling abroad, or just nesting quietly at home with my sweetie, who is a fabulous cook and bakes a delicious rendition of a certain cherry-filled dessert!

About Me: I’m a total wonkette who is lucky enough to be surrounded by her favorite things on a daily basis – awesome music, the great State of Texas and of course, Mr. Lemonade! I find any excuse I can to craft something and am completely infatuated with the 1950’s, all things Kennedy, and my furbaby Vida.
I like to have a little fun with my hair color. I’ve sported everything from the lightest platinum to a deep espresso. Currently I’m rocking my natural dark blond, but I’ve been adding more and more blond highlights. I love the baby blond strands but I totally hate how fried my hair can get.
I had been on the lookout for a new deep conditioner that would work wonders on my damaged tresses for a while, and I thought I’d tried pretty much all of them out there. Well, recently I was at the CVS picking up some allergy medicine (Yay, Texas!) when I was lured over to the hair care aisle by all of the pretty packaging. There, I noticed a line I hadn’t heard of before.

About Me:
I am a professional student by day and an amateur cupcake taster, bargain shopper, and wedding planner by night. I am obsessed with NPR, the Food Network, paper, dance shows, Anthropologie, post-structuralist theory, Weddingbee!, "The Office," and celebrity gossip. When not procrastinating from my dissertation, I spend time catering to Jellyby, our overly anxious shih tzu, and getting to know Mr. Hot Cocoa. We have only been dating for fifteen years, so it's like I'm in love with a stranger! From the East Coast, we are planning a Jewish-Chinese Extravaganza in L.A., where we both grew up.
As you may recall in my dress post from a while back, I ended my search for an affordable couture gown at the website of Dream Bridal LA, from which I purchased the very lovely Monique Lhuillier “Mona Lisa” gown. A week later, Mona showed up at my door. Instant gratification! But after the oohing and ahhing was done, I came to the sudden realization that Mona was here for the long haul; she didn’t have anywhere to go until late October, when I have my first fitting.

About Me: I moved around a lot growing up, but consider myself a Southerner at heart. I love scrapbooking, dancing, doggies, and diet coke. I am all about personalizing everything and hence, I'm a DIY bride who is just loving the entire wedding planning process! Mr. Daffodil and I met in our college fellowship group and were "just friends" for three years before we started dating. We've been together for four years now and can't wait to get married in sunny SoCal, Mr. Daffodil's hometown.
I’m not sure how many newlywed couples get to put their vows into practice the first week after they are married, but we turned out to be one of them. That’s right… on day five, I woke up and did not feel so good. In fact, I felt horrible. It wasn’t just one of the bugs you could get from traveling to a foreign country. In addition to tummy problems, I had a full-on fever and the worst body aches I had ever experienced in my life.
To be honest, I think I actually started feeling a little bit funny a couple days before the wedding, but the adrenaline had kept it all away. Once we were finally and truly relaxed, my body seemed to have just crashed.
I like this simple picture, which we took that morning instead of heading out to take scenic sunrise photos. Mr. D gave me a big hug and said to me, don’t worry, I am going to take care of you

About Me: Things that make me happy: Haribo Happy Cola gummies, TV shows on DVD, buying books although I never read them, 80’s rock ballads, ramen, and of course Mr. Martini! He is the calm, logical and number crunching finance guy. I can’t even multiply double digit numbers in my head and I am so indecisive that trying to choose between light green or slightly lighter green paper stresses me out (Wedding planning is going to be soooo much fun). We both find great joy in nabbing great seats at the movie theater for a blockbuster movie on opening weekend, and we are both absolutely crazy about snowboarding. And he loves to cook, I love to eat!
My coworker M, who sits across from me and will be attending our wedding, is an absolute RIOT. I adore her so much and I can go on and on about all the crazy times we’ve had during happy hours and even during office hours. She seriously keeps me sane during the dreadful workweek with her contagious laugh. She could be laughing about anything and even if I don’t think it’s funny, I can’t help but laugh along with her. I make fun of her for this all the time because she laughs at just about anything!
After I bought my dress, M couldn’t wait to see me in it in person and insisted that I send her a picture. When I did send her a picture, she said she loveeedd it. She went as far as to called it “classic”. I told her that although I did love my dress, I was worried because I had heard that that particular type of dress was going out of style, and I didn’t want to look back on my pictures 20 years from now and regret my decision. Although it might be nice now, I have no idea what the style of wedding dresses will be in the future.

About Me: With a degree in Theatre I never realized that planning a wedding was a lot like Theatre Management, until I started planning my own. I am a coffee addict, especially Starbucks' Grande Mochas, yummy! I love to cook (especially chocolate chip cookies for my honey), travel to exotic places, and be creative. As a couple, Mr. Cookie and I are extremely practical, down to earth, and children at heart. We live in a cozy abode with our adorable Pomeranian, and love to play board games and watch movies into the evening.
You voted. We listened. With 86% of the vote, tie it is for Mr. Cookie!
On Monday, I took the day off from work to run wedding errands. On my list to do was finding ties. I had a small budget for the purchase - between $10-$20 per tie. I went to Men’s Wearhouse, a local outlet mall, then finally Nordstrom Rack, where I hit the mother load!

Since Mr. Cookie is wearing a silver vest, he wanted a silver tie to match. Because he was at work, I found two options from which he can choose on the day. Each tie cost $12.95, not bad!

Update: Tooth fell out one hour ago, giving me the opportunity to show you the following. Not the look I am going for. My mom is coming home to glue it back in, but since it fell out while I was eating a corn tortilla with cheese melted on top, I have decided to stop eating until after the wedding day.

Please note that this is neither my dress nor my veil. At my mom’s house there are currently 5 wedding dresses and 2 veils, and I only own one of those things. It’s fun to play dress up sometimes.

Early on in my engagement, I must have tried on at least 30 dresses. Needless to say, there will be lots of dress shopping posts. I went to local bridal boutiques, Glamour Closet - a sample sale store in San Francisco, and shopped online at places like Bride Power, Pre-owned Weddings Dresses, Dream Bridal LA and Bella Rosa Bridal. If you haven’t noticed, I like a good bargain. Seriously, my next post should be “How to get the couture dress you want without taking out a loan.” Or you can just read Miss Haute Cocoa’s fabulous post here.
I wanted something timeless, simple and elegant. I knew I definitely wanted something strapless without too much detail, but I also love big princess ball gowns.
There is a bridal shop about a mile from my office, so one day during lunch I popped in to look around. I brought my camera with me, but it’s from the 1990’s and only some of the images ended up on my card. I’m getting a new one soon. I promise!
Anywho, here’s what I found:
