Let’s go back a year or so ago….
After deciding upon the girls that would be standing by my side, I was too impatient to send them a card, or a gift, or to announce it at dinner. I called each and every one of them immediately and asked them, “will you be my bridesmaid?” I was, of course, ecstatic when they all happily said yes. However, I soon realized that I had missed out on an opportunity to craft!
I decided to set up a Bridesmaid Luncheon for a future weekend and got to crafting! Not only would we be trying out some bridesmaid dresses at the local David’s Bridal (this was Pre-Choose-Your-Own-Black-Dress), but we would also be having lunch where I would surprise them with some small tokens of my affection. First, I had to choose a photo of each ’Maid with myself.

take a nap.
This is advice my mom, somewhat jokingly, gave me growing up. (Along with “you don’t have to be hungry to eat” and when dad asked for some single dollar bills to “always trade up.”) Well, aside from mailing the invites and a first/first and a half dress fitting, the last couple months I have taken a much needed wedding nap.
My to do list, which I should really write down, is a mental mile long. There are so many things I haven’t even thought about. There are even guests that I didn’t know about.
The good news? I am finally starting to go through wedding withdrawal. I went from planning overload to missing all the little projects. I am itching to get started on programs and the favor scarves. The even better news? Only 200 miles away from me (and closing!) the reinforcements are rolling in! (More on that tomorrow.) The next 51 days are going to wedding packed and fabulous!
Did anyone else have to take a wedding nap to get their second wind?

Congratulations to the winner ohnaka!

When we first got engaged, I figured we had the color scheme thing in the bag. I mean, I have a very unique engagement ring that happens to have a colored main stone. Thus, we defaulted to a color scheme of aquamarine and platinum. Done and done.
Um, not so fast there! After about two days of research, we started to realize that what most companies and vendors call aquamarine or aqua is really more of the ever so popular Tiffany blue. Now, don’t get me wrong—I love me some Tiffany’s (my little sister and I collect their silver), but we really did not want to theme our wedding after a store, especially since the ring isn’t from there. In case you’re wondering, it was made by a guy named Yanni who shares my faith and lives in Brooklyn.
At this point, we really had no idea where to go next. Pink was out of the question—while I am a girly girl (one of THE girliest) I have a feeling Mr. Lemonade isn’t, and my love affair for all things pink passed a few years ago. We tossed around the idea of NO color for a while with the idea of a totally pure, all white and ivory palette. This too wasn’t doing it for us. We were stumped. That is, until I went to Neiman’s.

When I last left you, Mr. Toucan and I finally got the kiss we almost missed. Yay! We’re married!
The thing that we didn’t prepare for was what we were going to do after we finished recessing down the aisle. We walked all they way out of the church…

I love my e-ring. I love it so much I don’t want it to have to share my left ring finger with anything else. I wanted a wedding band, especially due to the existence of our ring ceremony, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to wear it. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that in Eastern Europe, wedding bands are worn on the right hand and not the left. Perfect! I would keep my e-ring on my left for America, and wear something on my right for Poland. My two homes.
Then I opened the wedding budget, and things were not looking good for me. Enter Alchemy, the portal for custom item requests on Etsy. I created a request detailing I was looking for, and the price I was hoping for. I received 5 or 6 replies, and was immediately drawn to the work of bddesigns. I love the look of hammered jewelery, and I thought that a set of her inscribed stacking rings would complement my e-ring nicely.

Dear readers, I will be on a blogging hiatus for a bit. I’ve been a busy bee lately; I’m going on a trip to Europe with Mr. Eggplant for our anniversary next week! Fourteen days in Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona. The only thing is, I haven’t touched our itinerary yet—yikes! If anyone has suggestions for must-see sights in these three cities, feel free to help a procrastinating Eggplant out and comment below.
I would be incredibly grateful.
Now, on to our ceremony recap, before my blogging break starts!

Part II: The Dashing Gents
Part III: The Wedding Duds + A Suite Switcharoo
Part IV: The Threads, and How They Unravel!
Part V: Meet ’n Greet
We arrived at the church right on time with zero minutes to spare. In fact, I had no time to be nervous because it was go, go, go. In hindsight, this was probably a good thing.

We devoted the next couple days of our honeymoon to exploring the island. Given that it was a relatively small place, we made it our goal to hit every major tourist attraction and a few places of interest to us that we saw in our Lonely Planet guide. On one of the days, we hit a bunch of the major attractions by taking a guided tour on a 4×4. The two days after that, we went the DIY route by renting a car and doing some exploring on our own…
Posing by the 4×4. Yep, Mr. D would not stop taking pictures! ![]()
My friends, the time has come. Our wedding is over, the recaps have been posted, and it is time to bid a fond adieu to Weddingbee. Though it’s sad to leave such a vibrant, intelligent, and supportive community, I recently discovered something that instantly makes weddings a thing of the past (a.k.a, the ultimate cure for PTWS):
Pregnancy.
Yes, Mr. Tulip and I have a bun—Or, should I say Bulb?—in the oven!

(This is a real book.)

In preparation for our wedding in February, there are a few non-traditional things that have been on my list to evaluate. Sure, I’d like to get in better shape, and I’ll be taking care of my skin, but I’d also like to get rid of something that has haunted me since I was a kid—my glasses! I’ve had to wear glasses or contacts since I was very young, and to be honest, it was the long hours at my eye doctor’s office as a kid that sparked my interest in the profession.

A few weeks ago, Mr. Caramel, my parents, my sister and I went on a cruise to Alaska! We took the Sapphire Princess cruise and it was quite an adventure! We saw lots of honeymooners there and I was able to take many pictures and pick up some tips for any future cruise honeymooners. We went on this cruise partially because my dad used to live in Alaska for a while, and also to pre-celebrate our one year anniversary which is coming up in a couple months! Eek!

I love sugar. Seriously. I absolutely love it. There is rarely an evening that passes that I don’t ask Mr. Lemonade to take me out for ice cream (and he almost always obliges). Thus, wedding cake decisions are VERY important to us. And not just wedding cake. We plan on doing it up right for our guests that might happen to have a sweet tooth like I do.
At first, we figured we’d do the requisite candy buffet that is so popular right now. However, Mr. Lemonade really doesn’t like candy and it is his wedding as much as it is mine. What he does like is cheesecake.
How much fun would a cheesecake buffet be? I actually found a photo of one a while ago on the Knot (I think… if it’s yours, let me know and I’ll credit you or have it removed).
This past weekend Mr. Onion and I attended his cousin’s wedding at Wickham Park, a beautiful venue in Connecticut. You may remember them from their engagement photos or their fan-freakin’-tastic save-the-date.

This couple exemplifies what people mean when they say that a couple is “made for each other”!

This time, the idea is to make life a little easier for your wedding party. They’ll probably be carrying around big bouquets of live flowers for most of the day and will want to set them down somewhere. Why not give them a special place to put their bouquets aside?
