You saw the amateur pictures I took at my cousin Jessica’s wedding. Now check out these stunning pictures from the amazing John + Joseph Photography. You really have to click on the images and enlarge them!
This dress is the Cayla by Enzoani. My cousin requested two different straps for the dress: one made of chiffon silk, the same fabric as the dress, for the ceremony, and a beaded halter style for the reception.
Mr. Pomegranate is a software developer and also specializes in web development, so I knew that the traditional Wedding Tracker, WedORama, or the plethora of other options offered on the web wouldn’t live up to his terms. This was a project that Mr. Pom would most definitely be taking an interest in. We sat down and decided on the minimal features that we’d want to offer our visitors. Once we had those features nailed down, Mr. Pom sat down to code out the design of the site and I sat down to populate the content.

FOUR DAYS LEFT! Can you believe it!?
The Home Page starts out with the For Our Guests section extended to minimize the number of clicks it takes to get to the important information. In the letter, we linked to the top four pages that we thought people would want to access:

Another Shortcake DIY coming your way!
We made these bouquet charms as a handy dandy way for the bridal party to keep their bouquets separate (why does “keep it secret, keep it safe” immediately spring to mind?
) They were very simple to construct, and took very little time to put together.
A how-to? Here goes!

I am not a tiara type of girl. In my mind, a tiara was one of those accessories that screamed, “princess!” Early during my planning, I decided that it would be a snowy day in July before I’d wear a tiara at our wedding.

Last weekend, a gang of us jumped in our cars and drove down to Seattle for a Stagette Party Extravaganza for our friend K who is getting married in Vegas next week. (Sidenote: is it just me or does it seem like most people call these ‘bachelorette’ parties? Maybe it’s a Canadian thing, eh?)
Now, I know this is going to sound ridiculous but I swear it’s true: I have only attended one other stagette party in my life. Crazy, right? What’s more, it was ten years ago! I don’t remember much except that I was the one charged with renting a Chippendales video from the, ahem, sexy video store. (It’s sort of hard to forget a thing like that.)
Needless to say, I really didn’t know what to expect this past weekend.
Luckily, the other gals had a few tricks up their sleeves which I thought were great so I thought I’d share them with you.

Paloma’s Nest has just launched a new ring bowl with a wire loop that allows you to slide a flower, leaf, twig or herb into it. Caroline from Paloma’s Nest suggested that an attendant, such as a maid of honor, could carry this in a smaller ceremony and act as both the ring bearer and flower girl. What a sweet idea!

To enter this contest, please comment below and we’ll select one random winner by 9pm PST tonight. Good luck!
Also congratulations to nyckim — the winner of the Plum Blossom Letterpress invitations. To thank Weddingbee readers for entering, Plum Blossom would like to offer 15% off any order when you mention Weddingbee!

When it comes to tables at the reception, we have three choices on shape. Round, square, or rectangular. I asked Mr. Fondue which he liked the best off the top of his head, and he said round. This is the most common, for sure. But I keep finding pictures of square and rectangular tables that I love.
We’re still waiting to hear from our venue about what our table options are (like, how many of each shape they have, their sizes, etc.) and then we have to price linens based on that, so this may all be a “moo” point (sorry, had to throw the Friends reference in). But I’m going to provide pictures anyway.
Check out this gorgeous square table for eight.

Miss Dumpling spent Saturday doing lots and lots of errands. I’ve been procrastinating about doing wedding stuff because I have a fear of writing big checks. I’m sort of scared to see the money in our special bank account labeled “Wedding Fund” lose a digit. I’ve watched my fellow bees talk about paying the catering, photography, and venue deposits, and I guess I never really thought about how significant that was. Until yesterday, that is. Mr. Dumpling and I are now forced to eat ramen noodles for the next few years (carbs… yum!), because we finally took care of the catering for our wedding this weekend. One vendor down, about 27 more to go.
After that, he went about his business and I spent the rest of the afternoon working hard and doing fun wedding stuff.
First on the list: Get Carried away. What! It was research.

I now hold the record for watching this movie more than anyone on the planet.
I love New Orleans. I’ve lived here all my life (with the exception of 5 years at LSU), but it never grows old. After Katrina hit, a lot of things slowed down or halted in life. I remember staring at the TV the day after, and looking for my house in the aerial videos they were panning to all day. My house was fine. As for my relatives, not so much. I remember how depressing it was to drive through the Lake area, near the levee breach, only to see cars wrapped around poles, homes demolished and wow, the smell. I’ll never forget that moldy smell that resonated MONTHS after the storm hit those areas.
While New Orleans has been beaten pretty hard, I remember that next February. Mardi Gras… Some of the krewes were cancelled or stripped way down, due to the lack of funds or even standard floats suffering major water damage. However, just seeing Mardi Gras parades made it feel like home again. I’m not talking Bourbon Street Mardi Gras here, I’m talking St. Charles Avenue, parade central.

I knew the belly bands on our invites had to have a button. I didn’t know what they would be made of, but the button was essential. We thought about sewing the wrap out of fabric. Did I want to do this 275 times? Fabric gone. We thought about creating dangling strings of buttons. Did I want to do this 275 times? Hanging buttons gone.
Mamacado comes home from Paper Zone with some crazy textured paper. The Avocado belly bands are born.
These sheets are huge. I was able to make 33 12″X2″ bands. I tried cutting them, but as you can see, the edges have a beautiful frayed effect. I wanted all of the edges to look like this.
At our reception, we’ll be serving dinner family style, and we will probably push tables together to form seatings of eight on the main floor. I quickly realized this would limit the space for florals, as we don’t want people having to worry about knocking them down as they reach for more hummus while dodging candles. I have always preferred simple table florals to keep the space intimate anyway, and with budget in mind, I set out to find the best choice for us.
When I stumbled across Maura & Bryan’s St. Regis wedding on the fabulous Wedding Chicks blog (designed by the talented Stephanie Lairson), I was immediately drawn in by their style—a little edgy and definitely bold, but still romantic. Then, I saw this…

Hi Hive,
It’s been a few months since my last post. Married life has been amazing and crazy at the same time. So many unexpected events have happened since our wedding day. And we just celebrated one awesome Jelly-filled year of marriage! Yeay!
So before our lives are filled with many more new memories, I wanted to relive one of the happiest days of our lives.

See that sign in the background? It says “Best Wishes Ryan & Emily”. Bridesmaid Katie made that sign by cutting the letters out of pink paper. The amazing part is that she didn’t even draw the letters on the paper first, she just started cutting, even the ampersand. Very impressive. (For those font nerds out there, Sister Pineapple and I called the letters Comic Serif
)
A couple days before the shower, Mom Pineapple and I baked mini wedding cakes for a cake-decorating contest. The morning of the shower my bridesmaids and I mixed up different colors of frosting and filled decorating bags. Then, each guest got a mini cake and we passed around the frosting.
Equipped with my heavily dog-eared bridal gown catalog, along with the Spring Roll females (mom, FMIL, and sister), we visited David’s Bridal.
