I couldn’t believe I wasn’t hung over. I’d had enough shots throughout the previous evening that our time at the club was a blur, but I danced for so long and so hard that I must have worked all the alcohol out of my system. But I was tired—five hours of sleep wasn’t quite enough to make me feel perky.
After a hefty shot of espresso, my ladies and I headed over to Momma Cherry’s house, where my sister bridesmaids had helped her to set up a lovely shower. After the whirlwind of the bachelorette weekend, my mom promised us a relaxing, low-key afternoon tea with “no embarrassing or MENSA-level shower games” (her words).
Mr. CP’s mom, grandma, and great aunt joined us, as did a few other friends, for some conversation over mimosas. One friend even brought her week-old, brand-new baby!

We lunched on tea sandwiches, cheese and crackers, pear tarts, and other delicious goodies.
Finally, it was present opening time, and I was showered with so many awesome (and unexpected!) gifts.
A bowl! OMG!
Holy crum! Photo frames!
Momma Cherry even made lovely favors using the custom stamp I ordered for our favor tags but never used.
She’s been a very busy mom, and she put a lot of effort into welcoming a bunch of (very strange) girls into her home. We had a great time, and it was an excellent way to wind down from our crazy weekend.
But we weren’t quite done yet! We girls had to still drive an hour to Olympia so that we could meet the guys after their backpacking trip. After a night of hardcore drinking, they’d spent the day summiting a mountain!
We had excellent Emu burgers and beer at the Fish brewery, and then it was time for the closing ceremonies for the weekend’s manliness competition. The cards were tallied, freestyle points taken into account, and rules deliberated upon.
I’d fought my hardest, in the spirit of competition, and both Mr. CP and I had stacks of cards to show for the activities that were targeted toward our particular variety of party. But the truth is that I wanted Mr. CP to win. I was afraid that if I won, he would feel hurt or emasculated in some way. So as the judges looked at the cards we’d earned, I examined the cards he hadn’t gotten, and felt safe that he’d win by a narrow margin.
Unfortunately… I was wrong, and found MYSELF the winner by one ten-point card. Ooooops. But I was so shocked and Mr. CP was such a good sport that I don’t think there were any hard feelings. And the group awarded me a $25 gift card from Cabelas as my prize!
My darling and I headed home exhausted, full of stories to share. Most of all, we were glad to be together again.
Anyone else have their bachelorette, FH’s bachelor party, and bridal shower all in one weekend?
