After all this time, I’ve neglected to introduce you to our wedding party. Well, let’s say our hellos!
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this, but I’m the oldest of four girls. My sisters, of course, make up three of my bridal party. Since I don’t want to share their names without their permission, we’ll call them Little Sister, Littler Sister, and Littlest Sister.
Can you tell who’s who? I’ll help you out…
Little Sister (middle of above pic) is my next youngest sister by two years, currently livening in Bellingham, WA (that makes her a Bellinghamster, hahaha). She’s is very patient, considerate, and helpful… all essential traits for a wedding-day attendant.
Littler Sister (left of above pic) is four years younger and finishing up school in Portland, OR. She brings her keen eye and killer fashion sense to the scene.
Littlest Sister (right of above pic) likes to insist she isn’t goth or emo, but she dyes her hair black and shops at Hot Topic (so cute!). Doesn’t she have a gorgeous smile?? She’s thirteen years younger than me and currently in middle school.
Believe it or not, Littlest Sister is also a kickass violin player and will be providing the musical accompaniment for our wedding. More on that later!
Next, meet my Maid of Honor and her groomsman husband from Eugene, Oregon:
We’ve been friends with these two since I started college in 2000 and we all worked together for university computer support. A few years later, we were living together in some sort of geeky commune, and still bitching about how dumb most computer users were. We’ve spent several awesome summers in Glacier with these two.
And then there’s T&A, bridesmaid and groomsman, who get that nickname not for their anatomy but for their initials:
These folks we met the DAY we were engaged, IN Glacier, WHILE backpacking. They’d just decided to come up to the Park on the day before and happened to be at our campsite and following the same route – when we found out that they lived across the lake from us in Seattle, we were fast friends. They were recently engaged to be married next summer!
Mr. CP met our next groomsman, “M”, when he was involved with the Seattle Knights, a renaissance reenactment & fighting troupe (the kind of group that is the main event at ren faires with jousting, swordplay, etc.):
After putting on crazy shows all summer, Mr. CP helped “M” start his own business and they’ve been good friends ever since. [And in case you’re wondering, “M” is wearing a costume from a recent show in this photo.]
“K” and Mr. CP have been friends since freshman year of high school:
“K” used to sit behind Mr. CP and play Magic the Gathering and, as you can see, joined the Seattle Knights at the same time as Mr. CP. They were also college roommates for a couple years.
Finally, “J” (not pictured, can you believe it!) is another of Mr. CP’s oldest friends. They met early in high school biology class and were college roommates for four years. “J” used to be a semi-pro blackjack card-counter in Las Vegas (yes, like that movie!!), spent 2 years doing Jesuit volunteer work in Africa, and now handles obscene amounts of money on Wall Street.
So that’s our awesome and eclectic wedding party. I think you can see why we picked them… with blood relatives, bosom buddies, a couple of warriors, and some all around kooky and crazy folks at our sides, how could we go wrong?
After all, ain’t no party like a wedding party!
