Miss Candy Corn's Picture
Miss Candy Corn, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 27, Freelance Writer, Photographer and Illustrator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Front End Web Developer Blogging Since: May 6, 2008 Engagement Date: November 10, 2011 Wedding Date: September 2012 Venue: Our backyard! About Me: I’m a 27-year-old photographer, writer and illustrator who enjoys shooting weddings, catching typos in magazines, geeking out with Google Reader, watching Wonder Years marathons with my fiancé, and hanging out with our menagerie of pets. I’m an encore bride planning an intimate, offbeat backyard wedding with my fiancé (known around these parts as “The Ginger”), as we explore our adventures of homeownership.
About Miss Candy Corn

When I get nervous, I tend to stick out my tongue and make extremely unflattering faces. Despite the fact that our photographers are also our friends, I just couldn’t help but turn into a fidgety spazamatazz when the lens was pointed at me.

Proof:

Instead of having a nice, romantic walk through a field, I was a total goof and pranced around while singing a “The Sound of Music” medley that would’ve certainly cracked glass. In this shot, I am pathetically attempting to kick Mr. CC in the bum as we walked. Graceful ballerina I am not.

I am not sure what caused me to make this face, but I’m fairly certain that it had to do with me getting the idea in my head that a snake could very well be right by our feet. I am not a fan of snakes, as you can probably tell.

Exhibit A of the nervous tongue-sticking-out facial expression, which I’m sure there will be a lot of on our wedding day.

Mr. Candy Corn was used to me sticking my tongue out at him at this point, and just had a “This is why I love you” grin on his face.

When our photographers suggested we kiss each other, I tried my best to make the ugliest make-out face in the history of the world. And I succeeded.

Who wouldn’t want to wake up to that beautiful face in the morning?

It looks like I had exhausted poor Mr. Candy Corn with my crazy antics in this photo.

This is an example of me spazzing out, probably due to a group of tourists or cute puppies that had walked by. At one point there was a very large tour group passing by while we were posing and I dropped the F-bomb (loudly) out of nervousness and ran to our photographer Laura so I could nestle safely in her bosoms.

Whenever I felt like I was supposed to do something romantic like lean in for a kiss, I attacked Mr. CC with a huge, awkward hug instead. Not exactly frame-worthy material.

I attempted to become one with my surroundings, despite being allergic to 99% of them.

Did anyone else have a hard time loosening up in front of the camera?

The second photo is my fav! It’s very vampiresque and yet Mr. CC looks so calm :)

Those pics are the best because they are probably more you than any of the other ones. I am afraid of that because I hate having my pic taken so I usually make a face to ruin it so I need to be good about not doing the tongue sticking out thing, it just really isn’t lady like, darn,

I am so worried about being the same way. I look at all these pictures of somewhat sexy, always beautiful brides and I panic that I’ll let loose with my monster self and all my horrible transitional faces…. This is why we practice!

Having said that, yours are charming while mine are repulsive!

Oh my goodness, some of my favorite shots from our engagement photo shoot were the outtakes. There’s a whole series of photos of my FI nearly dunking me in the Gulf of Mexico. I love them, and am trying to think of a fun way to use them, rather than just keeping them on a disc and never looking at them.

Thanks for sharing the outtakes. Most are endearing and funny but I must be honest, the second one is scary! I love how Mr. CC looks so composed though. He has this, “she does this everyday and that’s why I love her” look on his face.

The butt kick picture rocks! Its so fun and light. I must remember to kick my babys butt when we do our e-shoot.

I think you may have been TOO loose in front of the camera! :) Actually, you two are adorable, even or esp. in the outtakes!

I love the big hug one, it’s so frameable and would be perfect on your or his desk in a 5X7.

Our photographer for our engagement pictures was one of my mom’s student workers from Clemson University. I had never met him before and I’m VERY anti PDA. Of course he kept asking us to kiss, which made me nervous. There’s quite a few good pictures, to my surprise.
