About Mrs. Cream Puff

The Fate of the Guestbook

September 4th, 2008 @ 5:07 pm by Mrs. Cream Puff

A couple of days ago, we FINALLY received the CD of our photobooth pictures from the wedding. This means two things: First, I can share them with you, and second, I can make our guestbook! We had 105 different photobooth pictures, and they were all pretty great, for various reasons. We seemed to have three main themes: boob grabbing, strangling and kissing. I’d really like to post the photos here, but I don’t want to offend any of our guests who might not be wild about having their faces on the internets. Instead, here’s one of me and Mr. Cream Puff:

cp-guestbook.jpg
one of my girlfriends and I:

cpguestbook2.jpg

and a really cute one of my little cousin, who somehow ended up in the Photobooth all by himself!

cpguestbook4.jpg

I’ve been putting the guestbook together, and I am REALLY happy with how it turned out. It’s super fun and I can honestly say that I think we’ll look at it again and again. One thing that didn’t work out too well, though, was the number of signatures we got. For some reason people didn’t really see it, even though it was right next to the photobooth and on the exact same table as the props (???). Unfortunately, the girl manning the photobooth didn’t take it upon herself to ask people to sign it. None of our immediate family signed it, which totally stinks, and we’re missing a few key members of my extended family. Only a few of Mr. CP’s family signed it (although, I was expecting this. When I proudly showed MIL Puff our guestbook, she said, “Chinese don’t sign guestbooks,”).

At first I was thinking that I’d just forget about it… but some people have SUCH cute photobooth pictures and no signature! I may have to torture them by bringing it with me to every family function for the next year… :)

Prepare yourself, Puff family:

Our guestbook was pretty big to begin with, so I wasn’t expecting it to be full. There are a lot of unfilled pages at the end, so I decided to turn it into a scrapbook. In addition to all of the photobooth pictures (and there are a lot), I decided to put a few other things inside. I kept all of our RSVP postcards, and since a lot of them have notes on them, I put them in the back of the guestbook. I’ve also received a few postcards (a few meaning three) from our OOT bags, so I put them in there, too. I also decided to include all of the cards we received with our wedding gifts. In the very front, I put a copy of our invitation, surrounded by the one photobooth picture Mr. Cream Puff and I managed to get together (I SO wish we’d gone in more!).

A few more signature pages:

Here’s an example of a page for a couple that didn’t sign our guestbook, but took a bunch of pictures. I’ll probably write their names at the top later. One funny trend we saw in the older Asian couples was repeated use of the photobooth, but exactly the same photo each time. This couple mixed it up with a prop… and one time they managed to gather a bouquet of flowers (from where? I have no idea). Some of the photos of other guests looked like passport photos–a couple of the women went in by themselves!

Here’s a page with our RSVP postcards on it…

And a page with cards on it:

I am SO glad we did this. I was a little bit doubtful in the beginning (mostly because we totally couldn’t afford it), but I am SOOO glad we did this. It’s one of my favorite parts of the wedding, and our guests loved it!

This looks like it turned out great! I laughed when ready about the guests that took the same photo…or looked like passport photos. We’ve got tons of Asian family and I really wanted to do a photo booth but everyone has convinced me that no one would understand the playfulness or creativity–they’ll just walk in (MAYbe) and take a picture without chaning up poses. Oh well…I’m sure yours make you laugh. :)

just awesome, puff! You are so lucky to have the CD. Seriously, count your blessings. My photo booth company “forgot” to make the CD from our booth. My heart was/is broken. Luckily, I have been able to get some copies from tech-savvy people — but most people I ask say “scanner? hummm…… what’s that?”. Anyway - a really awesome book. I like your idea of adding cards and other ephemera - because ours is certainly not full.
Oh yeah, and the photo booth pics that the hubby and I took together? Some well-meaning guest took them. Let’s hope they turn up someday…

These photos are hilarious. My mom said the same thing as MIL Puff: Chinese people sign a piece of red cloth, not a book. Oh well. I’m still going with the book! ;-)

fun wedding! Quick question though…why didn’t you just have guests glue the photos directly into your guestbook after they took the photo?

@Katie–OMG, that is HORRIBLE! I hope you got your money back (or at least some of it!!!)

@jasperucla–We didn’t want to pay $300 extra for doubles to be printed right then, and we wanted our guests to be able to take their pictures home with them. A CD with all the images is included in the cost of the photobooth, so we figured we’d print them ourselves later and save some $$$. :)

Haha, oh man…I love your observation on Asians and photobooths. That one of the couple is sooo cute, they moved like a millimeter in each pic haha. But the idea of older Asian couples utilizing a photobooth in the first place is cute already!

Um. Excuse me. Can we talk about this for a sec? This. Is. Awesome.

Also, my Asian aunts took like a billion polaroids of themselves at my wedding too. So so funny. We are a supersexy photogenic race, can you blame us? :)

aw! this definitely solidifies my want/need/desire to have a photobooth!! quick question: when you printed them out, did they print out like a photo strip? or did you just cut them apart. and what company did you use?

ps. you and the Mr. are SO cute with the props!

@Pengy–SO true!

@Nada–the company we used, partybooths.com, doesn’t do the strips (part of why they’re so much cheaper, I think). They print out four on a 4×6 print, just like the first ones I posted. For some of them, I decided to cut them out. :)

lol, i love the one of your cousin — too cute!

and your observations about older asian folks is hilarious. andddd i now want to get a photobooth for our wedding again -_-. i had convinced myself not to since more than half the guests were older asian folks and wouldn’t use them but…maybe they would!

i thought out photobooth was one of the best investments we made too! we also booked through party booths, and we made them work hard! our wedding was half filipino and chinese so they didn’t stop taking pictures, at all! they took over 250 pictures, which came out to well over a thousand pics on our cd when we got it from partybooths.

it was so much fun!!!

on the page with the Asian couple, did you add the little cartoons of you and mr. CP to the bottom of the pictures later? or did you arrange for them to come out of the photobooth like that? so cute!

@ zoe–They allow you to submit either text or an image to put on the bottom of the photos when they come out of the printer. So I added the drawing I drew for our Save the Date to the bottom (Mr. Cream Puff’s genius idea), and all of the guests got to take their photos home with that on the bottom!
