My bachelorette party was a total blast. Remember how I was a bit worried about bringing all of my friends together?! Well everyone loved each other and we bounded as a group right away. The day started out as my friends began to arrive. My bridesmaid, and co-bachelorette planner, arrived in the early Saturday morning and we spent a few hours catching up and talking weddings (she just got engaged!). Everyone else arrived in the afternoon and we gathered at my apartment to start the festivities (I kicked Mr. out for the weekend).
First up, cupcakes, champagne and gifts! FSIL, and co-bachelorette planner, brought these amazing cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery. What a perfect way to start the afternoon.

My bridesmaid put together a fabulous goody bag to get the party started. The gift bag was designed for a bachelorette. Luckily they didn’t make me do any of the awkward dares listed on the bag (like writing on men with red lipstick). The contents included a tank top with “The Future Mrs. NewLastName,” a crown/veil and temporary tattoos.

After I put on my new bachelorette ensemble, we were ready to hit the road. They made me put on the veil before we even left the apartment. Since it was 3 in the afternoon and I hadn’t had much to drink, I was feeling pretty embarrassed (this will change as the night goes on). We hopped on the subway and headed to Union Square for pedicures.

After we got our toes done we headed over to Wine Bar for a dinner that included a wine and food pairing. I didn’t know anything about our plans until the day-of, so I was super excited to learn that we were going here. I had thrown out the idea of a wine tasting (since the wedding is in Napa) and I was thrilled that they had found something. The prix fix dinner included four courses with a wine paired to each course. I can’t remember all of the courses but they included shared plates of olives and dips, crackers and cheese, flatbread pizza, and grilled calamari (the cook adapted it to be vegetarian for me). The food was delicious and so was the wine pairing. We had a ton of fun and it was the perfect dinner! Manwell, our awesome waiter, even threw in a desert and 5th wine on the house.

Me & Manwell

At one point Manwell brought me a “wine shot.” Yes, you read that right - a shot of wine. I asked him if I was really supposed to drink it like a shot and he said yes. I still don’t know if he was telling the truth or taking advantage of my drunken state! Have you heard of wine shots?!

After we left the wine bar, we decided to make a stop at Bamn! Automat in the East Village. The automat is like a giant vending matching with hot foods. There is an attendant who gives you change and then you put it in the machines and you can get burgers, grilled cheese, warm cookies, etc. The food isn’t very good, but it is a fun place to make a pit stop after you’ve had a couple drinks (I don’t think I would eat here sober). My favorite option at Bamn! is the mac & cheese pockets - they are rolls of deep fried mac and cheese. So bad for you but so yummy!

Dance Party!

Look at my eyes! They are going in two directions!
After snacks at the wine bar we jumped on the subway and headed back to my apartment. We made one final stop at Astoria Beer Garden before calling it a night. This is an outdoor “bar” that gets crazy packed on Friday and Saturday nights. We shared a pitcher of beer and then we called it a night.

My bachelorette party was so wonderful. It was great to get my friends together in one place and enjoy a night on the town!
