Mrs. Lemonade, Austin/San Antonio Age and Occupation: 28, Bureaucrat Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Music Management Engagement Date: December 21, 2007 Wedding Date: April, 2009 Blogging Since: August 22, 2008 Venue: Country Club ceremony, ballroom reception About Me: I’m a total wonkette who is lucky enough to be surrounded by her favorite things on a daily basis – awesome music, the great State of Texas and of course, Mr. Lemonade! I find any excuse I can to craft something and am completely infatuated with the 1950’s, all things Kennedy, and my furbaby Vida.
About Mrs. Lemonade

I had lunch with one of my bridal babes recently, and inevitably conversation turned towards the wedding. I have no idea how we got on the subject, but we started talking about valet services. Yes, you read that correctly – valet services.

Because I Don't Have Enough Projects On My Plate : wedding diy hotels san antonio Valet image source

The Club will provide one valet free of charge for our guests, and recommends that we have one for every 50 guests. I’ve signed us up for one more for sure, and two more are waiting in the wings just in case.

Now, I’m very happy to be providing this nice little convenience for our guests. However, I can’t leave it at just that. I’ve got to make more work for myself on something that may or may not even get noticed – hanging thank you notes!! Seriously, how freakin’ cute would it be to have the valets hang a little tag on each guests’ rearview mirror?!

Off the top of my head I envisioned those cute hang tags that Paper Source sells with our monogram and a short thank you printed on them. Definitely one idea…

I also googled the idea once I got back to work (hush…). The first thing I came across was a place that sells actual hang tags for parking permits. They even offer blank ones you can diy or have them print up for you. Interesting…

I also came across a few blog posts from other brides who thought this would be a super idea as well (guess I’m not as original as I once thought). These ladies had a bunch of great ideas from simple square tags on pretty cardstock (mine would be rounded!) tied with a pretty ribbon…

…to tiny organza bags filled with fresh herbs and a wee card expressing thanks – too freakin’ cute! Decisions, decisions….

Which would you choose?

Cute idea, but make sure you check to make sure that it’s not illegal to have stuff hanging from the rearview mirror where you live.

Many cities and states have laws against “obstructions” of this sort.

Otherwise — tres cute!

I went to a charity event once where we had a thank you note and mints (or chocolate? It was a while ago), and it was such a nice gesture!

So I would choose an organza bag filled with mints instead of herbs. :)

I like the idea of the tag from paper source.
One suggestion… make it easy for the valets to hang. They will not want to spend time tying ribbon when they have cars to park and tips to be made! Also, you don’t want they to be ripped or bent when your guests get in the car :)

I would stay away from the bag of herbs, it is a great idea but some people could have allergies or have an aversion to that smell. I like missk idea of the mints. I think it is a cute idea and a way to say thanks one more time and you can never say thank you enough

I love the paper source tag! It’s a cute, simple and unexpected addition that I’m sure your guests will appreciate when they get into their cars at the end of the evening. I know if I were a guest, I’d love it!

i agree with little bear…if i were doing tags, i’d either leave a longer ribbon hang or use elastic so it’s easier and quicker to tag the cars.

i’d go with just the tag. i don’t know how the weather is in texas in april but i wouldn’t want to chance leaving a bag of stuff that could melt from being in a car [since it's always hotter inside the car than out!].

not the herb ones, since Im allergic to like everything…but thats just me. Ill bet everyone else would think thats a fantastic idea though! This is such a cool and thoughtful idea. If most people are from out of town, you could have the directions back to the hotel on the back (if you have reserved a block of rooms at a particular hotel). That way they wont get lost!

Love Miss Dumpling’s suggestion of the directions to the hotel. In that same vein, you could do directions to the after party if you’re having one or someplace that serves food late if people have worked up an appetite dancing. I’m kind of wishing we hadn’t opted to do a shuttle from the hotel now b/c I love this idea!

LOVE the idea of fresh herbs - maybe lavender? Yum!

I would go with just the tag or the bag filled with some sort of treat (cookies for a midnight snack?), because some people (me) are very sensitive to smells.

i just love this idea in general! i woulda put my taxi tags in there and i’d fill the organza bag with… with… d@mn it i can’t ever think anything beyond freaking tea (which honestly makes a great alternative potpourri that’s much more mild)!

Cute idea! I agree with other bees - stick with a non-smelly treat :)

i am doing car hangers also (although not as cute as those paper source tags — i just bought a pack of blank door hangers, which i will print on) and wanted to add on this idea:

i am putting a thank you sentiment on one side, and on the back, instructions for uploading pictures to a shared photo site. something like, “share you photos! log on here……. and upload your pictures to be shared with us and our guests. plus you may find some good ones of yourself!…. etc….”

i think the car hanger tag is a great place for this info because you know it will at LEAST make it to their car! originally i was going to put the info on little cards on the table, but i just know it would get left behind!

plus it gives the car hanger a sense of purpose - besides just being a thank you!

: )

I think the idea of a hand-maid air freshener is just adorable!! I second Miss Pom with the lavendar. Alternately, cinnamon could be delish too.

I’m with Miss Pom and Miss SB — air freshener would be just too cute! But then again if that was too much work (or too much $) the simple hangtags are pretty darn cute too. I think the idea in general is just fabulous!

I’d be careful with air fresheners or herbs. A lot of people don’t like certain smells. Or even worse, they’re pretty particular about what smell goes into their cars.

The two smells that I cannot STAND are lavender and cinnamon. And its not just that I don’t like them- they make me physically ill. So if you put one of them in my car (and especially if the valet put it in the car as I dropped it off, so that it sat in my car the entire time I was at the reception), I’d have to remove the card immediately & then either drive with the windows down and my head sticking out, or wait for the car to air out a bit. I know this is an extreme case, but I thought I’d throw it out there.

That being said, I absolutely LOVE the idea of a little thank you note. If I was a guest leaving your reception, I’d have such a warm fuzzy feeling when I get into my car and see your note. VERY CUTE IDEA!
