Reader Help - Bio Icon?

September 9th, 2008 @ 6:39 pm by Mrs. Bee

I just got back this morning from my cousin’s wedding in Orange County. The wedding was gorgeous, and I can’t wait to share the images from the fabulous John and Joseph Photography once I get them! And for those of you following my dress saga, this what I ended up wearing.  :)

me with my beautiful and very tall sister in law (who was a bridesmaid)

But the point of this post is to ask for your help dear readers!  Weddingbee reader Claire suggested that we create a special icon for the Knottie Bios feature, because she found it difficult to scroll through Mrs. Bird of Paradise’s bio posts to get to her wedding posts.

We’d like to feature bios from all kinds of sites and sources, so please tell us — what kind of icon should we have designed for our Bio feature?

How about non-descript little person with the words Bio for the Icon?
or a picture of a book or pages with the word Bio

My 2 cents!

What a pretty dress! I’ve worn the same dress to the past 3 weddings that I’ve been to. I think I need to expand my repertoire. As for the icon, how about something that looks like a Polaroid photograph?

What about a book? Like a biography.

@swp02138: that’s what I was about to suggest! BTW, Bee, where’d the read-right-here link go? They’re all read-over-there now…. is that feature officially gone?

I like the book theme…what if it was a Bride character holding a journal/book?

I LOVE the book idea - I think that’s the first thing one thinks of when imagining a “bio.”

However, a polaroid would be valid as well, seeing as most of us are only interested in the wedding porn anyhow!

What about a pretzel? That’s what I think of when I think “Knot”!

i like the book idea better, but just to throw out options, perhaps a quill on a papayrus scroll?

what about a little sailor’s knot for the “knottie” side of the bio?

Hey, Mrs. Bee…i live in the OC and if I’m not mistaken, that photo was taken at the OC Performing ArtsCenter’s Segerstrom Concert Hall, right? I’ve having a party for my sister’s 18th birthday there next june (which is the reason, I read this blog in the first place - so many GREAT ideas, it’s amazing! I LOVE IT!) - that place is breathtaking! Ask Miss Sweet Tea about this Filipino tradition. I’m sure she’ll know about it.

I vote for the BOOK idea. It’s great. But I also love the idea of the pretzel or some sort of knot. Perhaps rope that is knotted?

What about a Swedish Love Knot… cause the bio’s are from The Knot… and there is love at a wedding… it’s kinda a cute little knot and I am sure your designers can come up with a cool vector… You might have to Google image it to see what it actually looks like, but they are really cute!

I vote for a knot, but I don’t know if that infringes on any copyright laws.

I think that it sounds like you are interested in moving away from “knot” bios in the future and would like an icon that encompasses everything? If that is the case I love the book with the word “bio” on it. Really scripted and pretty, with a very flowy satin ribbon coming out of the bottom.

How about a book with a picture of a knot (sailor, pretzel, rope, pinkribbon, or any other knot) on the front like the cover or tied around the book…

I like the polaroid, but think that would be a better choice for any guest photographers who may blog in the future. A set of wedding bands linked together would be cute, or you could do a “Just Married” sign - either one would be perfect to indicate it’s a summary of a past wedding. I think a book is okay, but kind of boring and uncreative.

I like mlmichael’s idea of having a “Just Married” sign, with some decorative flourishes around it. Any bio you might post would probably be from after the wedding, and it would encompass more than just bios from the knot.

I love that purple dress you have on! It’s gorgeous…….I’d love to own one, may I ask where did you get it?

As for the icons, I like the following:

1) Book
2) Gorgeous wedding cake
3) 2 love birds

i like the idea of the book and a Polaroid…perhaps an open book with the look of pictures inside, almost like a scrapbook or an album.

I think a rope tied in a knot would be cute, since… you know… they are Knot bios… :) Sometimes the obvious choice is best!

I like the knot idea. It’s a Knottie Bio anyway. Or the Just Married sign. :) BTW, Mrs. Bee, the dress looks way better on you than the Nordstrom model from Miss Sweet Tea’s post. You totally rocked it!

btw, cache should have hired you to model for that dress instead of the one they has on their website. you looked great!

how about a open laptop with a rope with one knot on each end, twisted to form the word bio?

the wallpaper on the laptop is a simple sage color silhouette of a bride with the “Bio” written by twisted rope across it.

How about a book? It’s very different from the Bee’s icons and what is a Bio but a story of someone’s wedding, planning or life.
