About Mrs. Shortcake

*A play on the UBC Arts student body chant: “Bigger is better, Arts kicks %ss!”

We’re so excited! Mr. Shortcake and I are having our engagement pictures taken at our gorgeous alma mater, the University of British Columbia, when we arrive in Vancouver.

I thought I’d share some of it’s beauty with you all before we have our pictures taken. UBC has so many different places to take photographs that it’s really quite hard to choose only a few spots.

Should we snap some shots in the moody and ethereal Nitobe Japanese Garden?

Or should we take a few shots at the recently renovated Main Library (sorry, I refuse to call it the Barber/Berber Learning center :P)?

How about we pose for some photos in the forest in front of the Student Union Building? We could play peek-a-boo among the trees!

We could study it up around the old mathematics building on the Main Mall…

…or play around with the funky lighting in the old chemistry building!

Is anyone else getting photographs taken at their alma mater?

We’re having our engagement photos taken next month at my alma mater, UWO (Uni. of Western Ontario)! I have always loved the campus. If I lean over just a bit and look out my office window I can see it!
I’m hoping that we’ll go to Vancouver for our honeymoon and get to see UBC in person :)

WOW Gorgeous Campus! Personally I love the Chemistry Building :)
FH and I probably wont take pictures at our Alma Mater for our engagements b/c I’m still in school and that building is less than exciting (yes one building - it is a very small, yet top 3 in the country (toot toot) design school) and FH’s school doesn’t mean much to us as a couple… we are however considering getting married at a house that used to be owned and lived in by Kellogg and his wife, at is on FH’s Alma Mater’s campus… are you tracking with me?

Oh man, that brings back memories! (Hubby and I graduated from UBC in 2000. I actually haven’t been back since the Main library renovations were finished - crazy!) Unfortunately you’re not too likely to recreate that scene in front of the SUB, with all that snow, are you? :)

We definitely are! Michigan State’s campus is extremely beautiful in the fall, and I can’t wait for the leaves to start changing!

@historykitty: I love autumn at UBC - there are so many tree-lined avenues that become golden archways…mmmmmm…

Aww hooray for UBC! (And HOORAY for UBC Arts! :P) My honey proposed at my old res at UBC, and it was perfect.

I’ve heard rumors that Nitobe charges a fee for having pro pics taken, so you might want to look out for that.

UBC is a town on it’s own!!! I’d suggest taking photos in the Gastown area, the brick there is gorgeous. My bf and I took a couple on their wedding day there and the pictures turned out amazing!
