Table Numbers

September 10th, 2008 @ 8:35 am by Mrs. Sundae

In our search for some unique table numbers, I came across this wonderful idea on OnceWed. Laurie Cinotto originally created the idea for the blog, and we sort of ran with the inspiration (thanks, Laurie!).

The idea is that you put a notebook on each table so that guests can leave notes for the bride and groom.  It will serve as a sort of wish bowl that we can go back and read when the day is over.

Since we’re using damask table runners, we wanted to keep the patterns relatively simple, so we opted to use only three different types of paper. We also decided to use larger 5.25″x8.25″ Plain Moleskine Notebooks to make sure they would be easily seen on the tables. A make your own rubber stamp kit is seriously handy when it comes to this project. I used one to stamp the insides of the books with two different messages.  The first message:

And the second message reads: “Your wishes for the couple”. We don’t expect anyone to write lengthy, heartfelt messages—really, we just liked the little notebooks too much not to use them! I figure that if no one really writes in them, we’ll use them for notebooks after the wedding is over. They stand up really well on their own, so we are just going to stand one on each table. I’ve never really seen anything like this executed before, so here’s to hoping that it works!

What are you using for your table numbers?

Are you using these instead of a guest book? I really like this idea. Since it is conveniently at the tables I think you’ll get more people that participate than a typical guest book.

Adorable! I love the idea of mini guest books at the table - they may be more likely to sign them and not forget them.

The notebooks are a great idea! We had artists postcards of paintings that were primarily blue (our wedding color). The backs were addressed to us and stamped. We hoped a person at each table would take it, write on it and send it to us - since our wedding was a semi-destination wedding (we live there, but most of the guests do not). We were going to announce the instructions but forgot to. The guests seem to have gotten the hint anyway, since we have already received 2 postcards with well wishes, signed by multiple people from each table, and our wedding was just last weekend!

I plan on doing this instead of a guest book! I’ve loved the idea since it was on Once Wed. Well done making your own!
