In case it’s not obvious, I am a word nerd. N-E-R-D. Nerd. So you can imagine my excitement when one of my favorite websites, Lifehacker, introduced me to a fun little application called Spell with Flickr. This app does exactly what it’s called: it spells out the word(s) of your choosing using Flickr images. Like this:

I contemplated using this to create our save the date cards, but in the end decided on another design (which I promise to share soon). I do love love love this app, though, and would be excited to use it for some other project— perhaps a framed art piece for a friend’s birthday, or even holiday cards!

we are right on the same page! i discovered this a few weeks ago and played with it for hours. i LOVE it. I’m already planning some cute framed words for our new place. i don’t think i’d use it for wedding stuff, but i was thinking of doing something for my fiance’s birthday.
it’s so fun! i’m just amazed at how they get the pictures so quickly, haha!
Dumb question but I love the link but am I missing something? How can I make it into something I can print and frame?

@Jen: Not dumb. You can either screen save it or cut and paste each letter image onto a word doc. Let me know if you have any problems.
@Debra: Great idea. I’ll keep it on reserve until I want to kidnap someone or something!
That looks awesome. I’ve seen something similar in black and white. I’ve been thinking of making these into signs for my friend’s girls’ rooms. Each sign would have their name.
Love that app! I’ve already made plans to print up my married last name and frame it in our office.
@katya: Those signs would be adorable! I’ve seen the black and whites as well — I think this poor-man’s version is just as nice, and you get to decide whether to go for b/w or color.

ok…I can’t figure this thing out. I’m not very computer literate! How do I get to where I can actually use the app? I love this though!
Just click on the spell with flickr link, enter your text in the box, and voila!
