2-in-1 GT Honeymoon, Part 2

September 12th, 2008 @ 2:27 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

After our cruise, we headed to Disney World for the second part of our honeymoon.

We stayed at one of the Disney deluxe resorts - The Wilderness Lodge, and got the best room in the whole place! Check out our view:

We visited all four parks, which were the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. We couldn’t rock the ears fo’ realz, but we did fake it for a second in the store. Actually, we wouldn’t even have thought about it if not for one of the mister’s favorite post:

Below circled in red, were our ‘Dream Fastpasses’, which were part of Disney’s “Year of a Million Dreams” promo. We each got one just for being at the right place at the right time! It was a single use Fastpass for each major ride at that park, and didn’t have any time restrictions.  The Dream Fastpass was valid for that day only.

Circled in blue was the ‘Just Married Button’ that the resort gave us when we checked in. The staff was trained to look for newlyweds, and people congratulated us everywhere we went. The attention took some getting used to (we were stopped one time by a couple of staff members wielding these big-o bells, and they announced our newlywed status for all to hear), but we kept the buttons on since we also got special treatment here and there like free cookies with our meal, or special Mickey sprinkles with our dessert. :)

We dined at the California Grill one night. We made reservations months and months prior so that we could see the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom during dinner:

Finally, here’s a pic we took just for you! :)

Disney Notes:

  • The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World was the best travel purchase ever! The mister used it to do a lot of planning, and we followed its suggestions to maximize our time usage. We found the best spots for show viewings, were able to select great dining options, and more. We would have missed out on sooo much if not for the book!
  • Allow yourselves at least a full day for each park!
  • Disney provides bus, ferry, monorail transportation to and from each park and their resort.
  • Go to the California Grill for dinner or drinks during fireworks time. They even stream the sound inside the restaurant!
  • There were water fountains around, but our hydration backpack saved us from wasting time looking for them.  Not to mention, it saved us from public fountain-tasting water, and we didn’t have to buy drinks all day.
  • The Fastpasses for the new ‘Toy Story Mania” ride at Hollywood Studios were ALL GONE before noon. Holy crap, we almost didn’t make it in because we had to leave for our flight home! Thank goodness we were able to ride it though, because it turned out to be my favorite ride! :)
  • For those who have been to Disneyland, Disney World is still worth the visit! Magic Kingdom is the park most similar to Disneyland, but there are still quite a few rides and sites that distinguish the two. Another plus about Disney World is that it’s much newer than Disneyland. The Electrical Parade at DLand was getting really old for me, but the one at DWorld is much much better!

Whew! Okay, so is there anyone else out there that is planning on combining vacations for the honeymoon?

We’re thinking of a Disney cruise + land package, that way we get to go to Disneyworld for a few days, then get to go on a cruise and go to the Bahamas as well!

We already had our honeymoon, but we’re planning a trip to WDW in February. I used to work at the Disney MGM Studios (back when it was called that!) at the Backlot Tour. It was the BEST time of my life, truly! (Okay, except being married, sorry hubby!).

Anyway, your pics made me wish our trip were next month, not next year.
:) Becky

Awe you both are too cute! This makes me miss Florida more. I grew up in a Disney family basically but I am visiting soon for Epcot’s “Food and Wine Festival” which is so much fun-oh and to see the family :) Looks like you both had a great time!

My proposal was at a window table at the California Grill! (I was so busy watching the fireworks, I didn’t even notice it was happening!)

We got a little sign on our dessert just like that, yum! And they came over and took our picture and gave it to us in a nice little frame :)

Best night of my life so far!

Hehe, my FI would NEVER allow a honeymoon to Disney World — he worked at the Caribbean Beach Resort there for a summer and his mom is still a bus driver. They are WAY disney-ed out as a family.

Your post has left me more excited for our Honeymoon. We’re going to Orlando for our Honeymoon October 26 - November 2. We’re doing Disney for 4 days, Universal IOA 1 day (since we had been to Universal Studios but not IOA a couple of years ago), Sea World, and Medieval Times.

We also have reservations at California Grill. I hear it’s so yummy! :)
