What’s for Dinner?

September 13th, 2008 @ 2:59 pm by Mrs. Cookie

Another DIY project brought to you by my Gocco: our menus!

I wanted to keep them simple and informational, as we are offering a very selective bar menu. I used Laurell and Futura fonts, and also used the same paper by Art. Co from Xpedx that I have been using for our stationery needs.

I made sixteen menus: 2 for each table and 1 for each high-top in the bar/cocktail room.

Mr. Cookie has been a good sport about my DIY blitz, but is about ready to kill me because the Gocco has overtaken our kitchen table for two weeks now! Oops. ;) I promised him after the programs were done, he could have his kitchen table back.

Are wedding DIY projects overtaking your house?

Very cute, but usually it’s “Be Married!”

I definitely agree with emilyinparis. Since ‘marry’ is a verb, this looks more like a grammar mistake than a pun. I’d go with “be married” as well. Very pretty, though!

I think it’s easy enough to figure out that this is a pun and not a grammatical error. Besides, Miss Cookie is already finished making 16 of these! Very cute!

I agree with Lise. I think it’s easy enough to figure out that it’s a pun. Maybe if I didn’t see it at a wedding I would think it was a grammatical error, and besides you see ‘be married’ everywhere this is something different and it works.

I think that it could be a pun for “merry” like being happy. So, “marry” is appropriate. I agree with others that “be married” would be better, but it’s ok, Miss Cookie, be “marry” is fine too!

I think these are really cute. Good job!

I know it is traditionally “be married”, but I personally have a reaction to that form as well. It’s like it is ordering everyone to get married–which I find strange. I think I prefer it this way. It’s just a reference to the day. And they are so well done!!!

Elizabeth, I totally agree with you… I like the “be marry” much better. “Be married” sounds like a command rather than a joyous declaration. Anyways, the design rocks. The fonts are awesome! Very similar to what we are doing on our invites.

Wow! I didn’t know our menus would elicit such a grammatical debate.

I like “be marry.” It’s softer and doesn’t sound like a command, but to each their own! ;)
