Salvaged Lumber, White Paint, and Nails

September 15th, 2008 @ 4:09 pm by Mrs. Cookie

As much as I wanted to be Superwoman and accomplish all of our DIY projects for the wedding by myself, I had to succumb to my mortal abilities and realized that I couldn’t do it all. As of this week, delegation is the name of the game. I officially handed the reigns of the day over to our DOC this weekend, and I’ve got the troops running errands in preparation for the big day.

One project I handed over to Lil’ Bro Cookie was the task of making rustic wedding signs.

The way to Ten Mile Station is a winding dirt and gravel path that goes up a mountain. To point our guests in the right direction, I wanted to make signs, so I spoke with Lil’ Bro Cookie about completing the task. Since he had some old, salvaged lumber laying around, he could whip them together in no time. I sent him a design for the lettering, and the completed signs arrived on my doorstep over the weekend. He purchased the stakes at Home Depot for a little over $1 a piece, and also used some white paint that he had on hand. They came disassembled for transport, and will be nailed together on the day of the wedding. We love them, and are so happy with how they turned out.

What wedding tasks have you delegated to family members?

Yay for delegation! I haven’t utilized my family yet — however I am not above a little Lemonade family slave labor (all for a good cause) :)

So sweet. I wish my family and bridesmaids lived in the same city so I could make them do stuff too. ;-)

Do you still have those signs by any chance? I’m getting married at Ten Mile Station as well and would love to take them off your hands if you want : )

Congrats on getting married at Ten Mile. Unfortunately, I no longer have the signs. Sorry. Otherwise, I would have let you take them off my hands.

My mom will be making my ceremony dress, a 40’s inspired skirt suit (for traveling, aka leaving the reception) and potentially my bridesmaids dresses as well!
