The Big Day: Dance Off!

September 15th, 2008 @ 4:59 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

We finally made it! It’s time for the last of the Gingerbread wedding recap posts.

Mrs. GB 2.0 had planned to do an official first dance. Well, a few days before the wedding we both said, “You know what’s really stressing me out? The first dance!” So we decided to scrap it. Why do something we weren’t comfortable with? You know what, no one missed it (except for Miss Sweet Tea, but that’s just because she read my posts about planning to do a first dance in the first place).

Now just because we didn’t have a first dance, didn’t mean that we didn’t have dancing!

Check this out. As a special bonus, you’ll even get a peak at the elusive Mr. Sweet Tea in this photo montage.

Mrs. GB 2.0 danced with everyone!

Even with me! :) I guess this was our first dance after all, we just didn’t do it to a particular song and we didn’t have everyone stop and stare at us.

Oh wait, maybe this was our first dance!

We had some serious ballroom dancers in the house, which made us even happier that we decided to forgo the formal first dance.

The great thing about having kids at a wedding is that they pretty much guarantee that someone will indeed be dancing at all times.

Dancing makes people thirsty.

The last couple of photos in the set had me cracking up. My aunt and cousin ended the night by horsing around like they always do. It was such a fun night!

We were glad that we got to skip the part about being sad having to say goodbye to all of our guests, since we were having dim sum the next day! :)

I’m thinking of forgoing the first dance too. Looks like everyone had a blast. I love the last two photos. I’ve got some crazy aunts and cousins that are likely to be caught in similar poses.
Yum, dim sum!

it looks like you had a wonderful time. i love that all your guests had fun, and your cousin and aunt crack me up!

it’s funny because mr. onion and i had not planned on a first dance, and about 2 weeks before the wedding decided we wanted to. we picked a fav. (and short — 2:30) song — “kiss to build a dream on” performed by louie armstrong — and danced at the very beginning of the reception so we could enjoy the rest of the night and not break up to flow. i’m glad we did, but might not have missed it if all our guests danced like yours.

@jG: Mrs. GB 2.0 and I set the tone by discarding our shoes as soon as we sat down for dinner :)

@Starry-Eyed Barefoot Bride: It certainly is!

@Miss Sweet Tea: Me too!

@KateMW: I might have inadvertently tricked you since he’s also the guy in the background photo of the collage.

@Miss Sea Breeze: That’s my brother-in_law!

@Miss Dumpling: There were some great dancers and some silly dancers. It was the perfect combo :)

@Debi: Prepare yourself for hours of fun :)

@chibride: I don’t regret not doing the first dance. I think if you have fun, that’s all that matters!

@Mrs. Onion: We were pretty last minute with prepping for the first dance which is probably what lead to the last minute cold dancing feet.

@Leah: It was such a blast!
