How I Was Inspired

September 16th, 2008 @ 4:56 pm by Ms Fondue

When we first started talking about the wedding, we were torn between two color schemes. We knew we liked black and white, but the accent color was a toss up. Red has always been both my and Mr. Fondue’s favorite color, but we both also liked how pink looked against black. We debated back and forth for several weeks, with me looking up inspiration pictures of both color schemes.

We ultimately decided on red. Being our favorite color, it comes up a lot in our lives, such as my engagement ring and my car (which will be our getaway vehicle):

I like things that match, so it seemed like common sense.

Armed with a color scheme, I began constructing our inspiration board. You’ll see several of these photos in later posts, but I know the hive loves inspiration boards, so I wanted to share ours straight off. There’s not any of the ‘geek’ I’ve promised to you shown, but I assure you, there is a definite geek element in the wedding.

How did you decide on your color scheme?

I chose my colour after my car too! It’s a sapphire blue… It’s the FH fav colour too. Then we (read: I) chose pink (well fuchsia really) cuz it’s my pet name given to me by the parents, they call me Pinky. Both colours are very rich and opulent together… perfect for a winter wedding.

Red

As you can tell, Red is my favorite color as well so I definitely needed to incorporate it. And with sunflowers being my favorite flower, we decided on a color scheme of yellow, brown, and red which happily tied in with the porsche-like logo we created for our wedding (hubby is a big porche fan).

Your inspiration board looks awesome, you just can go wrong with red and black damask. :-)

I had my heart set on pink and green, but since it appears that we will be getting married in November, I felt this scheme was more appopriate for the season.

red, with black and white damask and monograms… classic yet trendy, and it should be easy to find the elements you desire! Cute!

That is our color scheme too! It is so classy I think. That is just always how I pictured it…I knew it from the start, so the boy really had no say in that part of it :)

I let Mr. Tiramisu pick! I figured since the wedding was probably going to scream my tastes regardless, at least he could have his favorite color be the starting point. That’s how we got blue ;)

This was the exact color scheme we were about to go for! I have always loved red black and white together but alas we decided to go with a more “beachy” feel. Still love those colors together though, classic yet striking.

Oh are you going to do the cool monogram behind the cake thing? Pretty pretty please!

we drove a red mini for our wedding car! we belong to a car share program and we had originally booked a smart car (I wanted a cute car) but then they sold it, so we went with the red mini even though red wasn’t in our colours. I still think “wedding car!” every time I see one :)

I let my FI pick too! He wanted everyone in different colors, like in Reservoir Dogs. :) We’re going a little a la Mrs. Creme Puff.
