About Mrs. Dumpling

In my last post, you found out that I had no idea what an STD was, and I had no idea why on earth we would need them for our wedding (it still sounds gross…and funny!). In her post yesterday, Miss Champagne mentioned that the Weddingbee boards really inspired her to think of the coolest thing about the Champ wedding. I love the s’mores idea, and we’re totally stealing it. I have to admit, I always stalk the boards here on Weddingbee looking for inspiration, because, well, you ladies are just so darn talented and creative!Things I Didn't Know Until Weddingbee : wedding diy las vegas WbboarOver the weekend, I was reading a post by Superstar that outlined some of the things she didn’t know until Weddingbee. I was so relieved to find out that I wasn’t the only one who had no idea what an OOT bag was, or what MOH and FMIL meant, or that you could totally use an iPod instead of a DJ at your reception. Here are some of the things that the readers had contributed:SuperStar - OOT Bags, Bathroom BasketsChelseaMorning - numbering your RSVPs (great idea!)GoIzzy - personalized music during the Limo rideOne of my favorite (well, sometimes favorite… depending on the day, I either LOVE it or I think I’m all sorts of crazy) things I’ve discovered so far would obviously be the Gocco. But, when I think about it, most of my inspirations have come from this very blog. I guess you could say that all of the other Bees have been the creative minds that I lack. For example, Mrs. Lemon taught me that we should get a Flickr account and have our guests act as our 2nd (and 3rd, 4th and 250th) photographer on our big day. What a great idea! How would I have known about this awesomeness if it weren’t for Weddingbee?

Mrs. Cherry Blossom and Mrs. Penguin introduced me to envelope liners that can be made at home. I never even thought of that until reading Weddingbee. Our original plan was to buy mass-produced envelopes, until I found out about the Gocco. Just the thought of jazzing them up with pretty paper on the inside makes my heart skip a beat!

Or, check this one out—I wasn’t aware that the bride and groom supplied the programs themselves. I really thought that, even after going to tons of weddings with programs, either the church or the venue provided them. I always thought to myself “Wow, this hotel/church did a great job with the programs. How did they know the couple’s theme was cherry blossom trees?” Yeah, duh.  It wasn’t even until Mrs. Hummingbird’s post that I realized that we could get all kinds of creative with our programs. Thanks, Hum! Maybe I can find a way to sneak my Beatles in there somehow!

Thank you Bees and Weddingbee readers, for helping this clueless bride find a way to make her wedding personal and chic!

What kinds of things on Weddingbee have inspired you? Is there one thing in particular that stands out?

I had never heard of Paper Source, a day-of coordinator, Mrs. Daffodil’s “packet” (love this!!), Gocco, embossing, envelope liners, Perfect Table Plan, photo cards, dress labels (with you and your FI’s name and wedding date), inspiration boards, and bouquet tags.

But what’s worse? I dropped a “I know I’m crazy about my DIY” phrase last week in front of my parents … and they actually asked: “What’s DIY??”

There are a million things I’d never heard of till weddingbee and many parts of my wedding were better b/c of it. But I think it’s a double edged sword. You start seeing so many ideas that you want to do them all/feel pressure that you have to do them/ or feel bad that you can’t do them. Suddenly you start trying to justify $500 for a stuffed animal bird cake topper when weeks before you didn’t even know about it.

our invites will have “All You Need is Love” in a cute design that emphasizes “All Love”…How about some Beatles quotes or table names?

Dyeing my crinoline under my dress. I didn’t even know YOU CAN DO THAT until I saw several blogs about it around here. My mother and I are sooo excited about this. We are going to dye mine fuchsia so there is a POP of color under all that white. =)

@tea: They are still affordable :) Check paper/art stores, I know of 2 stores in Minneapolis that sell Gocco (depending on the model — $79 - $200) and Gocco supplies, including a myriad of paints without gouging buyers on the price.
