About Mrs. Caramel

New York, New York!

September 17th, 2008 @ 1:01 pm by Mrs. Caramel

Almost one year ago, when Mr. Caramel and I were on our flight back from our honeymoon, we decided to spontaneously stay in New York city for one more day. This was when we fell even more in love with the city and felt that we HAD to move there one day.

Well…. that time has come! Mr. Caramel and I are moving to New York in just a few weeks! A couple people have told me that the best thing they’ve done together as a young married couple was to move to different city. Although I’m sure it will be lonely and scary, you really learn to grow and appreciate each other in a new city. Just the very thought of having my very first white Christmas in NYC makes me super excited!

Not only will I be looking for a new career, but I will hopefully continue doing JAC beauty gigs there also! We have gotten nothing but support from our friends and family. They say it’s such a good time for us— since we have no kids or anything tying us down.

Here I am @ Carrie Bradshaw’s steps on the SATC tour:

A new start for a couple of marriage newbies!

….NYC here we come! :D

aww everyone is so nice to wish us luck!

I think we may move around Long Island City, but the closest to Manhattan the better! And I will probably start a brand new career and waitress on the side until I find a new job. I must be weird to think that lifestyle is exciting, just because it’s in New York!

WELCOME!
NYC is the best! :)
Moving (the packing, the moving of everything, and then setting everything up again) totally sucks so best wishes to you both and safe travels out here.

Congrats Mrs. Caramel! My fiance and I just made the big move to New York ourselves. We’re a little ways out from Manhattan in Queens, but so far we’re loving it out here (if only I had a job to support a fabulous New York lifestyle!)

I second Mrs. Onion’s suggestion for a NYC bee meet up - the last one was held just days before I moved here so I missed it!

Welcome! My suggestion though (having worked in LIC) and lived in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens over the years … is if the LIC area is what you are looking for price range-wise. Consider Astoria. I think it’s more neighborhood-y and friendly and it’s like 15-20 minutes to midtown - tops. LIC can get pretty desolate and dirty! Good luck!!

Best of luck to you in your new home! While engaged, my husband took a job in a new city and for a few months we were there together. While we hated the city, it did indeed make us even closer and appreciative of each other.
