Color Palette

September 18th, 2008 @ 1:20 pm by Miss Spring Roll

After changing our color palette several (hundred) times, we have chosen a final palette of bright orange, pinks, and white. I, like many future brides, love pink and white. I was never a big fan of orange, but I just love how the colors look together.

Here we have my attempt at an inspiration board:

How did you choose your color palette?

http://www.flowerchilddesign.com/gallery.html# also has a nice one in wedding bouquets…this color palette isn’t for me, but my former roomie is using it…I think there was a Martha article earlier this year using it, and it was super cute!

I’m not a huge fan of orange either, but I am considering using in my color palette as well b/c my color teacher said that those orange/peach hues encourage ppl to interact… and now I sound like a nerd.

I photographed a friend’s wedding this summer and she had similar colors for BM dresses - there were 8 of them and they looked like a beautiful sunset.

oh i felt the same way but i ended up using orange as one of our wedding colors too. it looks great in pictures and served as a great contrast to the plum color we were using.

i love the pink, orange and white - it looks very cheery and still sophisticated. :)

I love that pink dress! It’s perfect. Do you know who makes it?

I did all oranges, pinks, and gold flowers at my wedding, and it turned out pretty great!

p.s. the flowers really popped against my bridesmaids’ teal dresses.

lisa: The dress is from David’s Bridal. I’m wearing it in chocolate brown for a wedding in November. It doesn’t need any alterations at all and is very flattering!

I loooove pink and orange! I wanted it originally for our wedding too, but it didn’t seem to work well with the whole church wedding. I love how hot pink pops too, so I kept that and added navy! :)

@cannotwait: I love that bouquet, especially the pearls :) Thanks for sharing.

@AliCherri1: That definitely sounds true; bright colors make me happy.

@lisa: It’s from David’s Bridals. My MOH and Bridesmaid will be wearing them in Watermelon.

@Mrs. Margarita: I agree :)

@carin: What a gorgeous wedding! Thanks for sharing :)

@Mrs. Toucan: We are getting married on a deck over Clearwater beach, I think the colors will look great against the scenery. Navy and hot pink sound great together, very unexpected.

I went with orange, pink, and brown last august. It turned out amazing. We got white, pink, and orange paper lanterns in china town that were great at the reception. I got http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30109193
in orange and cerise and used them as overlays on the white linens. Good luck! and Congratulations!

mine was the default chinese wedding colors, totally boring but it was easier that the chinese stuff i had to include blended in. you have such a fun color combo, me loves the orange!

Yaaay for pink and orange! Like you, I wasn’t a fan of orange by itself (although I have to say it’s grown on me), but I love it combined with pink!
