The Final Push!

September 19th, 2008 @ 9:29 am by Mrs. Cookie

It’s crunch time, and here are just a few more DIY projects to squeeze in before the big day. Welcome to my hodgepodge of last-minute project mania.

First up, we have our programs!

I Goccoed the programs using the same screen I used for our invites. I was going to Gocco the whole program, but I have run out of lamps and there seems to be a lamp shortage.

So, we had to improvise on the inside by adding the red ribbon, which is the exact color ribbon used for the hand binding during our ceremony, and printing the insert from our home printer.

Napkins

These are all Mama Cookie’s doing. When we were pricing out wedding linens, Mama Cookie thought she could make the napkins cheaper. Armed with Jo-Ann coupons for 40% off, she bought this beautiful chocolate brown ribbon for $2 a yard and took on the task of making the napkins.

About a week ago, I got a call from Mama Cookie saying that she wanted to monogram the napkins like our aisle runner. With a little help from a professional embroiderer, this is what Mama Cookie came up with:

We’re still trying to decide what we are going to do with ALL the napkins after the wedding. Any thoughts?

Shawls

When bridesmaids get crafty, boy do they get crafty! Several months ago, two of my bridesmaids decided to make shawls for all the bridesmaids and me for the wedding. The mountain air in Breckenridge can get rather cold at night, even in September, and with cocktail dresses, shawls will be a must.

I got these pictures of their hard work yesterday…

The outside is taffeta…

and the inside is wool. My bridesmaids rock!

What are the last wedding projects you have to complete?

The napkins are lovely and now you’ll never need to use paper napkins again! Think of the environment! :-) Everything looks great.

I love your napkin idea! I wouldn’t worry about what to do with them afterward, you will use them forever! Just think if you ever have a large dinner party or people over for the holidays, you have your cute monogram napkins!

Where are your bridesmaid dresses from?

They should seriously sell the shawls! I looked for something like that forever and settled on pashminas which may not be warm enough.

Just curious? - did the napkins end up being cheaper in the end?

These are all beautiful details! The aqua is so beautiful against the brown of the dresses and the napkins.

I think that you have napkins for you and your FI family that have their monogram or anyone who’s first or last name starts with a “C”. Those shawls are great and so smart to have the wool on the inside, you have some craft bm.

You’re BMs do ROCK! That is genius!
and I love the napkins, such a nice detail :) I like Jenn’s idea of giving them to your other “C” family members as well as keeping some for yourself.

Ms. Cookie,
I’m kind of late on this one, but I hope this still finds it’s way to you…
Our last name starts with a “C” and those were our wedding colors :) I’d love to buy 2 dozen (or so) of them if you’re selling.
Please let me know how much. You can either PM me over on Project Wedding (I use “griffen” over there too) or ask Mrs. Pennguin for my email. I don’t really like posting it ;)

Ladies — my apologies for the delayed response. Mr. Cookie and I just got back from our honeymoon, and I haven’t been checking messages until now.

@ynichole: Ann Taylor. I got them on sale in November of last year –Ann Taylor always has fabulous sales! Although, I don’t believe they make that style anymore :(
@willworkforpeonies: Yes, but only because the embrodary was given to me as a wedding gift.
@griffen: I’ll be in contact.
