Meet Tiffany

September 19th, 2008 @ 10:30 am by Mrs. Spring Roll

Before Mr. Spring Roll proposed to me, I would browse engagement rings and dream of his proposal. I dreamt of some neat proposals, such as him getting a tattoo reading “will you marry me?”, and of our Shih Tzu having a ring attached to her collar. Okay, but back to browsing. I found the most gorgeous engagement ring ever. It was simple, elegant, and brilliant.

If you haven’t guessed by now, it was the Tiffany setting from Tiffany and Company. I immediately showed it to Mr. Spring Roll and asked him to bookmark the page. I never imagined I would get my dream ring. Then, on May 1, 2008, during our last dinner on a Bahamian cruise, Mr. Spring Roll had our waiter place a light blue box tied with a white ribbon next to me. There it was, right next to me, the ring I had dreamt of receiving. Unfortunately, Tiffany and Company has a standard ring size of 6. Before I even got to wear my ring for a day, I had to ship it away to New York to get downsized. What felt like a year later (but truly only two weeks), my ring was back. Although I’ve had my ring for several months, I still catch myself staring at my hand.

My ring came with a diploma, how cute is that?

Was your engagement ring your dream ring?

P.S. – Happy 31 years of marriage to FMIL and FFIL Spring Roll!

Ha! My fiance picked out the ring all by himself, but I also got a Tiffany’s setting, brialliant cut stone. Love it so much Also – the ring DID come delivered in the box, by collar of our dear doggie Jaina – who I swear galloped down the hallway towards me with the biggest grin on her face!

Yeah for dream rings! My guy carried around the model number of the ring I wanted on a business card for 2 years before we got engaged…still my dream ring. =)

yay! I love your classic ring!

It sounds kinda weird, but in my group of friends, I never wanted to mention that my ring is from tiffany’s. It’s a the cushion cut Novo, but when people find out, they’re like “oh you got ripped off” or “how come your fiance didn’t go to the diamond district”

I love my ring, no matter where it comes from, because my DH picked it out himself and it’s perfect for me!

@lilneko69: It’s funny– I feel the same way. And actually, Mr. J did a lot of shopping around and he was really satisfied with the prices at Tiffany, the quality of the rings, and the customer service. I definitely did not expect my ring to be from there because he iskind of anti luxury brands, but he was very happy with his buying experience.

Engagement stories make me all giddy inside every time! Our best wo-man got engaged just last night (yay!) and I did a happy dance in my PJ’s all by myself.

My ring was totally a dream ring that left me a blubbering, blubbering fool! Not only did/do I think the design was amazing…the stones left me studdering. I honestly didn’t hear but a few words he said. All I could say was, “I gotta call my mother!”

@Melissa: Awww, that is so sweet!

@Ryn: What a cute story :)

@lilneko69: I have had a few of the same reactions; I ignore them because I am in love with my ring and that is all that matters :)

@Mrs. Jasmine: I feel the same way. If you compare the grade and cut of diamond, I feel that the prices are very reasonable. When I took my ring to be sized, they cleaned my necklacke and bracelet for free, which is usually $10 per piece. Good customer service in my opinion :)

@Shasha: Same here! My mom was in on it the whole time, as was Mr. Spring Roll’s mom.

I have a similar ring — modeled after the Tiffany one, but designed by his family jeweler. I wore it on my middle finger for a month before finally taking it to get sized this week. I love it so much I just didn’t want to part with it!!

I never really had a “dream ring” in mind. While I LOVE your ring and it was an idea I had in my mind at first, I then went on to wonder if a vintage ring was more my style. I found my ring in the second shop we went into and never looked at another. It is being sized but should be on my finger permanently as of (hopefully!) tomorrow.

@lilneko69: I feel also feel slightly weird when people ask about the cut of my ring and realize that the lucida cut is proprietary to Tiffany’s. I’m not a big “brands” girl but I totally fell in love with this specific cut.

I have the same ring and love it! Mr. E picked it out all by himself for the same reasons as Mr. Jasmine and Mr. Spring Roll. Yay we’re all ring buddies :)

Score!! Nice ring bling, girl!! :)

My ring is SO my dream ring. My FH asked me to pick some rings so he had an idea of what I liked. When it came down to it, I ended up picking my own ring. It was the very first one that caught my eye. I get SOOOOOO many compliments on it. I stare at it allllll the time. *sigh*

I have the same setting! My FI picked it out himself, it was a complete surprise. I have to admit that it was not my dream ring, I never really wanted a solitaire. He said that if I didn’t like it, we could go back and trade it for something else, but he was so excited and proud of himself that I couldn’t bear to do such a thing. Once I got the ring sized and had “speed bumps” put in to stop the spinning, I really started to get used to it and I do love it now.

My stone is pretty small and the ring doesn’t get in my way, which was my main reservation about a solitaire setting. However, I still have a nagging wish for either a shared-prong or bridge-set eternity band, which would have been my choice. Perhaps as an anniversary band…I just don’t want to wait that long!

I must say, I wasn’t so into T&Co before I got engaged, but their customer service has been so wonderful, I’m really glad he got my ring there. I also like that I have a guaranteed place to get it serviced no matter where I am in the world :)

I didn’t have a “dream ring” until I saw the ring my fiance designed for me (completely without my having any clue he was planning on proposing). All I knew was I liked princess cut stones. Now, six months later, I too still catch myself staring at my ring. There’s no way I’ll retire it to the jewelry box (or safe) after we get married and just wear my wedding band. I love my engagement ring and all that it symbolizes too much to leave it scared and alone.

My ring is very similar to yours. It wasn’t what I imaged for myself but I do love the simplicity. You can see it here: http://gs-whatnext.blogspot.com/2008/09/we-havent-taken-them-off-yet.html
