Tin Tie Bags

September 19th, 2008 @ 4:21 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

You know those bags that coffee typically comes in, where you roll the top edge of the bag over and fold the two tabs inward to create a secure fold? Last week I found out that they have a name: tin tie! I ordered 100 tin tie bags for our guests to fill candy buffet sweets into. Of course I could not leave the bags plain, so I dressed them up in simple DIY style.

Tutorial? Certainly!

Supplies needed:

  • Photoshop or similar editing program
  • Avery 2″ x 4″ white mailing labels ($3.99 for 100 at Target)
  • White tin tie bags ($17.69 for 100 1/2lb at Papermart
  • Avery DesignPro (Free download here)

Steps:
1. Using Photoshop or similar editing program, design label and save to computer.

2. Using Avery DesignPro, select to “design from scratch” and follow the queue to select proper label size.

3. Open saved label design and fit to label size.

4. Print. (Make sure to increase number to 10 “number of copies” when the print screen pops up).

5. Peel label and stick to tin tie bag.

While I labeled 100 tin tie bags, Mr. Spring Roll took a nap with Gabriella.

What type of containers are you using for your candy buffet?

Cute! Those bags are perfect. We are using these cute bags and matching pre-tied sheer bows from Nashville Wraps:

I got the same bags but in that Kraft paper brown color with the glassine windows on the front! We will fill them with my moms homemade cookies for favors and I can’t wait to get to dress them up!

Awesome. I had no idea what those kind of bags were called. Your bags turned out great.
I like your FH & pup picture, adorable.

We bought the same type of bags for our candy buffet except ours are bright red to match our colors. I designed a label to stick on our bag with our monogram, names, wedding date, and “Thank you for making our day sweeter!”.

Those are great! I’m debating purchasing a zyron label maker. Do you think using the avery program and label paper is just as good? Or better?
