The Taffettes - Dress Up Time!

September 21st, 2008 @ 8:31 am by Mrs. Taffy

If there is one thing I looove to do, it’s dressing up. Dressing up to go out, dressing up to dance around the house, dressing up for Halloween… you name it, I love it!

All of my favorite memories of dressing up have included the Taffettes, my lovely bridesmaids. This also counts for Mr. A, one of my best friends and a groomsman. I went digging through the archives and started scanning the evidence…

We’ll start with Mrs. L, my matron of honor. First up, our 1920’s costume for 11th grade spirit week:

I love her purple suit!

Now, on to the really fun stuff- Here we are as characters from the Wizard of Oz our senior year of high school:

I can’t believe I wore that huge red wig. I made the crown from a Burger King hat!

Here’s a better look at Mrs. L’s awesome homemade munchkin costume:

Here we are (more normal looking!) in our bridesmaid attire for Mrs. A’s wedding:

Even Mr. A has joined in on the dress up fun! Most pictures of Mr. A and I are from weddings or events, but I was able to find a great Halloween image when he dressed up as Lenny Kravitz. I helped him pick out the clothes! My female roommates in college went nuts over this one.

Here we are going to my cousin’s wedding in 2004:

Next up may I present to you the fabulous Miss K!

Krispy Kreme donuts became very popular in our office the fall of 2006, so Miss K and I hatched a plan to dress up on Halloween as donut workers, and rollerskate around the building passing out the delectable treats! The hats and boxes were free at Krispy Kreme (well, with purchase of the donuts, of course!), and I had the white vintage nurse dresses at home. (I was a fashion major and have collected odd vintage since high school.) We also wore hair nets as a finishing touch. Needless to say, people were delighted and completely shocked when they saw us rolling down the halls with those boxes! We almost made one older conservative engineer drop his cell phone.

Next up is the lovely Miss J, also of the same office. Here we are at her fabulous bachelorette party this summer:

She looked great in that red dress!

There was some fun photoshop work done by our friend Amy. Here we are on the big screen:

A post on the details of Miss J’s party is coming soon!

Do you and your bridesmaids share some sort of common bond?

I’d like to propose a bridesmaid-related name change. You got as far as “Taffettes,” but with the bridesmaids dresses that are out there, how could you not take it one step further to Taffetas?
