Obsession of the Moment

White anemone flowers. Oh, I think I’m in love…

Awesome inspiration board from Blush Events Blog

Image from Brides.com

From StoneBlossom.com.

Aren’t these delicious? The white petals… the black center… they’re just so completely yummy. I have no idea how much they might cost, but I’m having a fantasy moment right now, and in my fantasy, I have white and black anemones. According to About.com, white anemones are in bloom in March. I think they’re a little bit vintage, and a little bit posh. We’re still deciding on what type of flowers we might use, and these are definitely on our short list.

From Martha Stewart

Has anyone used anemones in their florals?

Finally!!! I have been admiring these buds forever. I love the light petals against the rustic center, a little sweet bridal on the outside, major drama on the inside. I’m glad someone else appreciates their whimsical beauty :)

I had a burnt orange colored anemone in my bouquet. I really wanted a flower to honor my grandma, and she liked sweet pea and anemone, and lucky for me, the anemone was in season! Our florist actually put it in at the very last minute, as it was kind of a “Hey, do you think…” suggestion from me. I loved them, and seeing them in the bouquet made me just grin.

That’s my bouquet (top right of the collage and the middle photo from Stoneblossom) !!! Excuse my excitement - I just get so giddy when I see my wedding photos in unexpected places.

Anyway, I had to have white anemones. I became obsessed. They are just so pretty!

@katherine: Honestly - I don’t exactly know how expensive they are. My bouquet was sort of on the expensive side, but I only needed two bouquets (me and MOH) so I splurged a bit. Sorry I couldn’t be more specific.

we’re using anemones - we chose poppies as our inspiration/theme, so poppies are on our invites and anything else we can slap them on, however since our wedding is in the fall, actual poppy flowers aren’t to practical for bouquets and such…so we are using anemones which look just like poppies and give that bold, graphic look we are going for! red for me, white for the girls! i can’t wait to see how they come together!

I loooove anemones! We won’t be using them due to their black centers (the best part!), but I think that they are gorgeous!

We’re using white French anemone and pastel ranunculus!

And, through our florist, they aren’t very expensive at all! They’re about $2-3 per anemone.

I am having anemone in my bouquet and centerpieces this october (25th to be exact) and they have to be imported from Holland (along with the ranunculus that I HAD to have)… it definitely increased the cost of my flowers to have them imported, but I don’t think that they’re as expensive as poppies… I think my florist said that she’s charging me an extra $25 per arrangement and bouquet for the imported flowers (kind of a significant increase if you have centerpieces, but I think it’s worth it!!). Hope this helps a bit… let me know if you want me to get more info from my florist all you fall brides. :o)

On April Reed’s cake website- the cake with the anemones facing out ( as opposed to the more popular on top) was my cake inspiration. Unfortunately at the last minute my florist couldn’t get anemones for my august wedding :( so we used roses.

Anemones have been in my inspiration folder since Day One. Ranunculus was my first choice, but they’re pricy in October. My florist has free reign - I just told her the colors and the styles I like. :-) One less thing for me to worry about!

Are the white anemones w/ black centers in season at the beginning of August?

I’m obsessed too! Planned my entire wedding around the flowers! I’m using them for my black and white August 1 wedding… LOVE THEM! I met with the florist that I’m using and she said NO PROBLEM (I had heard they were not in season “through the grapevine”). I met with another florist just to make sure that I was going with the right person, and he was a JERK - said he absolutely could not do them and refered to two books. One said they were in season, one said they werent. I picked up my belongings, laughed at him, and said I already had another florist that told me she could do them and I would send him beautiful pictures! He really solidified my decision.
