Not Even the Ceiling is Safe…

September 22nd, 2008 @ 11:57 am by Mrs. Lemonade

One thing that has been slightly overwhelming for us in the planning has been the decor. We do not have a specific “theme” per se, and I can’t make a decision to save my life. Thus, I’ve been all over the place. Pretty much every time I see fresh wedding porn, I feel we MUST incorporate it (or some aspect of it) into our day. We’ve tried to keep it pretty traditional, while incorporating only our VERY FAVORITE creative wedding ideas (which would be almost all of them).

Early on in the planning, I came across many pictures of receptions with adorable hanging lanterns. I love the look of lanterns and how they draw the eye upwards.

I immediately put Mr. Lemonade on the case to find a local event lighting company to hook us up with said lanterns, and a few other surprises (more on that process in an upcoming post!).

We were done with dressing up the ceiling. Or so we thought.

Then I came across this:

Aren’t they adorable? I love the moss balls, and think they would tie in perfectly with other mossy projects we have in the works.

I’m sure this all will continue to evolve over time (I just can’t help myself!), but I’ll definitely keep y’all updated in the process!

Have you had a difficult time narrowing down your vision? What made the cut?

Love love love the moss balls! Someone recently asked whether we were decorating the ceiling and immediately said I don’t think we are allowed to. That greenery is a great reason to find out!

Oh! I am allowed to hang things from my ceiling and it would be incredibly easy for me to hang these through the beams. If only I had someone to make them for me :)

If only I had the budget…my venue has awesome beams that are just asking to have stuff hung on them. But I have to draw the line somewhere…

If only I had a ceiling. My venue is outdoors and I love the look of hanging paper lanterns. It will cost me an extra $1000 to have people come set them up outdoors because there are no trees to hang them from and they will need to use umbrella stands and fishing line. I don’t know if I will bite the bullet and fish out the $$ as it’s so much!

I love the moss balls! They look modern but organic at the same time. If I could have my way, they would definitely end up in my reception. I also like ones made of green mums too.
