I have to say as we launch into this first set of pictures that we were incredibly lucky to have the wedding where we did. Not only is Mr. Hummingbird’s father’s property naturally gorgeous, but the man is a workhorse who put an incredible amount of effort into making sure that everything was perfect for our day. He mulched the gardens. He laid new garden tile. He planted wildflowers. He installed lights and a gorgeous new pond fountain. And all of his hard work totally shows in the lush greenery of out setting, so major kudos and many thanks to him!
As a nod to family tradition, the place we gravitated to for pictures was the trellis which Mr. Hummingbird’s father and his lovely wife Gina had gotten married under two years before.
For those of you who haven’t gone through the experience of your own wedding yet, I will tell you that after the ceremony, you are overcome with two major feelings…
Those of general goofiness…
Yes, that’s right ladies! He’s taken now!
And those of general schmoopiness.

Our entire 70 person guest list was watching this picture being taken, but we were both so excited to see each other again that we didn’t even notice.
After our little snuggle, we brought in the bridal party for a large group shot.
We didn’t pick our people on the basis of appearance, but seriously, aren’t they a handsome bunch?
Then, we broke it down into smaller groups.
My bridal posse. They endured my dress fittings. They baked cakes for me into the night. They drove me around half of Ontario running last-minute wedding errands. They kept me (relatively) sane. They were the best support a bride could have.
The groom’s gang. Both literal and figurative members of Mr. Hum’s family, they were there for him before I came along, and they were happily there for him on our big day.
Girls only! I was really happy with the colour of the dresses, not only because I love green, but because it looked great with Mr. Hum’s Best Lady’s tattoo!
Just the boys. I’ve got to say, Mr. Hum’s choice of outfit was pretty great. The boys got to wear something they could wear again, and the brown pants were especially perfect considering the mud.
The triumvirate of Hummingbird parents! We all squeezed in for a big group shot. As Mr. Hum mentioned before, his step mum Gina tried to opt out of the parental pictures, but considering how she was there for Mr. Hum in the pre-ceremony chaos, we wouldn’t let her and made sure that she was in every shot.
The Hummingbird grandparents! Unfortunately, Mr. Hum’s paternal grandmother wasn’t feeling well the day of the wedding and was unable to join us, but we were both able to celebrate with our grandfathers, who were cracking jokes and telling stories throughout the pictures. I don’t think there is a picture of this group in which we are not all smiling and laughing.
After those shots we needed a break, so we and did a little mingling… which is what I am off to do now! I will continue with our casual cocktail shots later this week, including shots of my fake mom, my best friend of 20 years, and my expert/adorable music team.
Stay tuned!
You look stunning and Mr. Hummingbird is so adorable! I love the grandparents shot. They look like such a fun bunch.
